Popular Post Seedy Al
Another week. Not so freaken sure where all th time went. I mean, I got some shit done, but it doesn't really feel like it was much However, motor is now mounted in the car, gear box bolted up, drive shaft in etc. Might have to modify the clutch slave mounting some how, It clearly isn't right, and my guess is I was in to much of a hurry last time to do anything about it, I suspect the clutch slave movement isn't enough to fully operate the clutch fork. Maybe why I had issues with clutch slippage. Then again its probably fine. So next up is strip all the stuff off the front of the engine for painting. Which I guess is what this week is going to consist of mostly. Need the rocker covers and intake manifold painted so I can sit the loom back on the engine and figure out the few mods to the loom I need to do. As I plan on doing everything in wrinkle finish, I also need to figure out some sort of paint booth where I can use some heat. Oh and My 235 / 40/ 17's turned up so droped all my wheels down to local tire wizard for some fitting Not looking forward to finding out how much space I don't have Rad I know

Popular Post Seedy Al
An udder week Firstly super thanks to beaver, who was bored so gave me a hand with a few things today. Anyway been a bunch more cleaning and painting and messing around. not much more painting to do, just wrinkle finish the top of the intake, but, really need to get my inner guards painted. keep tossing up between spraying them with some cans and hope they turn up ok, or paying some painter for a perky to use some of the black chassis paint we have kicking around work either way I'm getting to the point where something needs to happen sooner than later, but yeah, also got the ECU mounted, with a lovely bracket beaver fabbed up, and wired in the vac solenoid for the intake flappers. Anyway, fun. Not sure how this week is going to go. have dinner out two nights this week which cancels out how two nights of progress but its worth it.
Popular Post Seedy Al
woops my build thread fell off the front page of build threads, which must mean I wasn't doing enough work or something Anyway, have been hacking away at it as time frame is getting smaller and have a few weekends away, so doing an extra half our a night currently to try catch up. Rebuild alternator as I knew it was faulty, new reg, hopefully it wasn't my wiring or something lol Also, been sorting out more motor stuff., And lot of wiring. Found homes for all the relays for the ECU and have run a plug instead of hard wiring them like last time haha Also Grotty was painting his inner guards for his impala at work so I threw him mine to do also To be honest I kinda feel the paint is too shiny for the engine bay, really distracts from all the other stuff I have painted. In half minds about whether I go over them again with a can of satin, or just deal with it. biggest concern about the satin Is that I have had a few issues recently where its turned out milky. not sure why, my guess might be heat, as it is kinda coldish at the moment slash no sun. Anyway, best make a discussion soon as I need them bolted in so can refit battery cables etc to get some power in the car to find out where I need to run wires to for ECU And yeah. exciting exciting exciting
Seedy Al
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Build thread almost off the second page. Must mean I have been super lazy........ heh Anyway, I decided the inner guards offended my eyes, so scuffed them down, and resprayed with rattle cans in satin black, in my make shift bake booth. worked a treat! would say that also came down to the previous black paint smoothing everything out. Also acquired the engine covers I were missing, Huge thanks To Toy-mota And beaver for hooking me up. makes me happy. Then came the time I thought I might try power up the ECU and see if my engine check light was working. It wasn't. fuck. traced some wires and checked powers. found when I had my relays plugged in, power to switch the ECU was dropping to 6V. hmmm....... fuck it, at this point I bit the bullet and did what I had been trying to avoid, moving the relays and extending the wires so it didn't look like a bunch of shit under the dash. Glad I did, looks so much better under there, and now my glove box fits without hitting the relays. rad. Also, connected one of the spare wires I had run over to the drivers side, to the ignition switch, instead of pulling switch power off A random circuit under the dash. Turned key, heard relays click, engine light came on. Success. So atleast I now know It should run when The intake manifold goes on. Which I painted today, and will fit tomorrow. So its getting there. Maybe not as quick as I need tho as all these changes are taking up more and more time. Plus I spent the weekend over in Masterton pulling apart a commodore with KK him self. Was fun

Popular Post Seedy Al
Wow, What a shit build thread. would be lead to believe that I just stopped there and never got this thing sorted due to KK commanding a Saber saw. But I actually got this together, mostly, and drove it out of my lock up as I had a few other jobs coming up and needed the space. On the drive the gear selector shaft pulled out of the gear box and got stuck with only reverse, second and 4th. So 6 months later, and yesterday I went round to pull out the battery to charge it up, so I could drive it today, but after connecting the battery it started straight away, so moved it yesterday So its now back at the lock up, up on axle stands, and I'm starting the proccess of sorting out the jobs that need doing before cert. First is pulling out the gearbox, to repair the selector shaft thread and helicoil it, fit a longer clutch fork, replace the input shaft bearing, and also replace the rear main seal on the gearbox. Once thats all back together, its drive it to work, get it up on a hoist and finish the exhaust as it currently ends just by the drivers door. So working on that stuff now. Fun times, hopefully this doesnt take forever to sort out. Good times.
Popular Post Seedy Al
Well, unproductive weekend. Have a new front bearing for gearbox, a new clutch fork on its way, and a new rear main seal Non of which have been fit yet unfortunantly Will make a stab at gearbox tomorrow. So yeah, looks something like this in the engine bay now
Seedy Al
So gearbag got back into the car today, still a few things to sort out under there, but atleast the cunty part of trying to install a heavy gearbox under a car on axle stands by your self is done and dusted. So tomorrow it might be driveable again, however, there are some other jobs that really need to be done also. One is to swap out the very noisy fuel pump. Not sure its because its a cheap item, or because I possibly didnt prime it correctly when I first started it, but either way, it sounds like there is a coffee grinder going constantly under the car. kinda gay! and want to change the spark plugs, because I didnt ages ago, and it seemed a bit missy. once those are done, its dash and exhaust time. Pics of some crap. Front Bearing all swapped over. Helicoiled selector thread. And two very different clutch forks. The more I look at the difference in these, the more I can only feel this is why I have had so much issue with clutches in this thing so far. Correct fork is longer at both ends, which probably means my release bearing has been acting a bit funny on the pressure plate. Hopefully no more! Rad and stuff
Seedy Al
I really have no idea why I didnt change these when I noticed them putting the motor in this car Lazy probably, just lazy And replacing my silly near new China fuel pump. With a new new china fuel pump, this time straight from china for $80 less. I do wonder if it was a result of poor priming why the other pump sounded like a grinder. Have borrowed a syringe off a guy I know. going to use that prime fuel pump first. Splendid
Popular Post Seedy Al
Woop woop. Been pretty busy with swapping motors in my wagon, nats and leeboes daddy shower. However finally been getting some time on this. Spent the last few evening's tidying up the wiring and refitting all the dash, kick panels etc. Pretty happy to have that done. So fit my new steering wheel. Pretty happy with it. But needed a more fancy horn button. Thankfully, I had bought a bunch of mooneyes stickers when I visited von makooooooo at magoos hot rods over nats weekend. Was perfect size. Much win. So driving this to work at some point over the long weekend to finish the exhaust. And that should be it really. Cert ready! (I hope) Anyway. Rock and roll.
Popular Post Seedy Al
tell ya, its been nice having this back on the ground, its been some time. Would seem on the test drive most of the stuff I went to sort out with the gearbox is all takin care of, shifts good, no clutch shudder etc Super nice having the dash all back together too. Given long weekend it seemed like the best opportunity to get this into work and on a hoist. Main goal was just to complete the exhaust, which after a few convos with my work mates, convinced me going under diff would be the best option as A) easy. B ) actually fuck all of fuck all room on top of the diff Personally I hate under diff exhaust, but I will let it fly on this one, as I truely am not sure I could have made an over diff work. SO yeah, besides a few simple things, which off the top of my head is put a second set of nuts on top of the front struts, then this should be cert ready. I know it will need a wheel alignment for the cert, but going to leave this till i know everything is good under there. So, current plan is call up tomorrow and book it in, probably for next week, think he is usally over this way on a Thrusday, so a week and a few days. Anyway, none exciting pics IMG_5549 by Allan Ainsworth, on Flickr IMG_5587 by Allan Ainsworth, on Flickr IMG_5586 by Allan Ainsworth, on Flickr IMG_5588 by Allan Ainsworth, on Flickr

Popular Post Seedy Al
Hey wow so this happened IMG_5652 by Allan Ainsworth, on Flickr And then today this happened IMG_5651 by Allan Ainsworth, on Flickr So yeah........... getting there. not to bad of a list for a car thats been off the road for 2 years. Managed to replace the ball joint with a new one after work today, hopefully have a steering idler coming tomorrow if repcos listings are any near correct. Checked out the fuel leak, looks like the washer where the fitting goes out of the pump is junk, so need to replace that, which sounds easy, but is a cunty Mc cunt getting soaked in gas sort of job. And adjusting the hand brake while I'm under there should be a piece of custard square too hopefully. Wof on monday fingers crossed.
Popular Post Seedy Al
Well wof on Monday never happened, due to a bunch of fucking around with different parts places trying to figure out this steering idler. Anyway way figured out what I needed about 5.25 yesterday evening and much to brad doritos naysaying they turned up today. So hopefully everything is now repaired to vtnz standard. Idler went in this evening. Off to vtnz tomorrow again. Digits crossed.
Popular Post Seedy Al
Heres a shit update for ya. This passed its wof. Been driving it around a bit on and off. But have been chasing an issue with alternator squeal which has pissed me off no end. Took a stab that the alternator it self might be toast. Even though I replaced the rectifier when I was piecing this all back together a year ago. So dug out a 1uz one I had kicking around. Just had to shorten the mounts slightly to correct the pulley off set. Boom, now the charge light is working which is lush as that never worked with the old one. However the pulley diameter was slightly smaller, so the belt I had was now to long. Chucked that on, on Saturday, and every thing seems to be ok. Guess will need yo drive it a bit to confirm as old one didn't have a problem till after a few drives. Other thing I have wanted to do for some time was wire in a swtich so I could put it in diagnostic mode as when I wired this up the first time in the wagon, the factory diagnostic plug didn't make the cut. So now I can switch Te1 straight to earth with a switch mounted near the ecu. To my happiness there are no fault codes. So this is almost all sorted. Tonight I pulled the altetnator off to give it paint. Will chuck that on tomorrow and drive it back to home. Might try for a wheel alignment and wheel balance this week. Then get it to Mourning Cupcakes brother for a groom. Then thats pretty much it besides making some clips for the stainless monsoons. After that. Its for sale. Picked up a replacement motor for my vw. So wanna get that done. Then might try putting a 1uz back into my cressida. Fun times ahead. Heres some boring shit pictures.
Popular Post Seedy Al
ready For Hanmer
Popular Post Seedy Al
So. What's up with the above pic? Well long story short I got annoyed at how loud the fuel pump was mounted hard to the chassis. So made the decision to go in tank. Was not as easy as I hoped as I didn't want to weld the tank, and due to very short time constraint (I had planned on taking crown wagon to hanmer, but my warrant man pointed out excessive play in the drive shaft yoke, which is a problem I have had before and can become terminal on a road trip) So anyway parts turned up from the states on the Thursday a week before heading off for Hanmer, and with the glorious help of Steelies and his understanding of what issues we had to overcome, got this shit sorted. 1 week later and car is in line at the ferry ready for the trip. 1100km later and mission accomplished. Only drama with the car was me demoing the exhaust on the off road trip on bridges up to fowler hutt. So its back up on axle stands once I get to the lock up again, remove exhaust and fix what ever leaks and issues. Then..... its pretty much done. Just a decent clean, removing the cb radio, and mounting of the monsoons and hopefully within a month it will be for sale. Looking for 8k certed with wheels etc. Spread the word. Will get better pics once its back together and cleaned.
