Miniman76
race seasons over we had a mini fun day at taupo to end the season and then had prize giving that night so we ended up doing around 65 laps of track 1 at taupo enough for me to feel the body the next day hahah but all in all went well broke an axel first one all season better to have hapend on the fun day than at a race meeting id say so slaped a new one in and away we went heres some pictures cheers to greg (64valiant) and Evan and the rest of the team for the quick change and also the tasks of beltn in passengers all day so with the dirty stuff outa the way was time for prize giving ended up doing pritty well i must say pritty stoked for a new build to not have many dramas and come away with 1st in the open class , 2nd overall , rookie of the year , and most inovate team of Gare Motor sports so really stoked that we were able to string it all together so as for now the cars jacked up and its development time hehe so cutting up old inlet manifold to make a new short one for the FCR 41 carbs we picked up so with this under way room for weight removal is under way on driver and car haha i will keep ya posted on more devlopment works as it happens as theres alot going on
Miniman76
so today with some spare time with helping Evan with his s1 rx7 subframe i managed to remove the engine and fit the dumby motor to allow us to work out how much of the fire wall we are to cut away and also found some big issues which ill describe later so heres the front end with out the engine pritty bare i know but seems to do the job quite well haha from another angle so heres a block and gearbox cases i have to sit in for welding to so we dont risk anything on the race engine the block is a blue top block bored out for oversize but never ended up getting used and an old red top head i have laying around so with that in marking out of fire wall can get started ! so a major problem found today was our shocks are too short something we thought nothing off but is really costing us lap speed or corner exit due to the wheels wont go down with the anti roll bar well they go down but the drop like 10 mm which explains why we buzz the lh front at taupo all the time also found the tie rod to not allow the rose joint down which doesnt help either so off onto the web to find some new standard length shocks its amazing finding out this now how we the car did drive haha should be a million times better when we get the suspension moving correctly while the engines out i will throw a new clutch in as its getting hammerd of the starts with me loading it but after a season the linning and fly wheel and pressure plate still look good so will replace any way for peace of mind cause next season the motor stays in haha over removing it all the time for gearbox changes by for now

Miniman76
so got bored this long weekend couldnt go anywhere with work so did some choping up of the firewall for a airbox and cleance for the new bike carbs and this will provide us with a hole to make an alloy airbox to clear the filters but heres the carbs sitting in there with the half done manifold and another angle this is going to allow us to use a standard looking bonnet no hump
Miniman76
so now with the carbs fitting i can begin to fill the holes up haha made a plate up for the bulkhead to try help keep its strength then made up some end plates and glued them in so with that part done i have started to build an airbox well a mould so i can make a fibre glass one using some light alloy i have at home so with that part made roughly i latherd it in some pva to start the fibre glassing but with the weather today its a bit of a waiting game haha
Miniman76
so while we had the gearbox out we have sorced a bzr 6 speed to hopefully be the cheaper option to make a better gear set if this doesn't work it back to the drawing board . but like anything its not a direct swap from the c56 .... for starters differnt shifters so need to modyify linkage on the side to suit oh and a plate to mount it on to my exsiting welded tubes in the floor the pelt of bits haha was bought as a manual conversion kit so have a few more parts than i need
Miniman76
so heres where and how the fibreglass airbox will sit with carbs heres the new brake lines i got the boys at apex to make this week as old ones would hit the sway bay and im not liking the look of the crimp so to be safe so opted for a banjo bolt setup with 45 degree bend to clear the bar

Miniman76
on the 1st of october we went down to taupo for some much needed pre testing car ran well the new brakes certainly halling the car up and the new shock asorbing the bumbs and the fcr carbs sounding sweet as the 6 speed box allowed us to run the motor high in the rev range every shift so heres a short on board video of the car now on old tires and trying to not use tooo much of the car before the season haha

Miniman76
So been quite lately busy developing and looking at new ways to improve the car here the first of our development to try for the next round to see weather we run bigger rims next year for tires so i took the wheels of the road car as that's out of action receiving a jap power plant now got some nice 8.2inch wide slicks altho it wasn't just bolt on fit haha was when car was on the stands but modifying was necessary we had to raise guards slightly but modified the front heaps especially moving the splitter forward as you can see quite a gap to fit so out came the fibre glass and alloy now it came out ok but close enough to run a meeting like it for taupo the wider wheels do loose us clearance to the crank pulley so steering stops might go in after this last race but thats not all we have planed even removing the gear stick next season and 265mm front brakes with willwood 6 pots stay tuned
