Guest weds_69
hey man im doing the same build as you but at a slower pace haha but for the diff have you considered getting an lsd? premier autos in takanini will do them for $1200 and that means you can keep your drum brakes the same(so no upgrades needed) and dont need to get the axel cut down to size. And with those capri coilovers do they fit the standard m16 calipers?
Guest weds_69
hey al would you be able to make me a chassis roller if i brought the material and gave you some cash or some beers? cheers james
Guest sr20Escort
hey weds, bout the lsd; i did look into it until i saw the pricetag, id much rather go through the mods and fabrication of fitting a hilux or similar diff than forking out 1200 bucks for the one to fit the english housing.. but thats just me. I'm pretty sure the M16 calipers will bolt on because they are the 2.8i struts. I'll be happy to sell you my chassis roller in a couple months when I'm done with it, i just don't have the time to cut up and weld another one together becuase im not too efficient with my fabrication yet haha, sorry mate
Guest weds_69
haha fair enough Al, i just thought it would be abit easier saving up for a lsd as i dont need to do any mods at all and can use the origional drum brakes which will pass the cert for a sr20de and dont need to worry about anything going wrong with an old diff lol yea i thought the stuts would bolt up as most fords have universal parts but just wasnt to sure tho haha i would be keen to buy the chassis roller off you after you finish, how much would you want for it? yea i only have a mig welder and havnt really welded before so dont think il do to good hahaha but your esky is looking mint man whats left to do on it? have you welded the trans tunnel up yet? sr20Escort
Yea fair enough, I have a tight budget so can't afford to fork 1200 for an lsd right now. With the drums, I'm gonna take it on the track a bit for a burn so may as well do up the brakes while I'm at it, not just going to do the bare minimum to get a cert Chassis roller - not sure how much right now, ill flick you a message when im ready to sell it, it will need mods to fit something other than an escort though. Iv been away so havnt made much progress, still gotta do the tunnel yea but heeeeaps of other stuff too much to list haha
Big Louie
Quick update, picked up some Bilstein capri 2.8i coilovers with 200lb springs for cheap. If anyone knows where I can get wheel bearing kits in NZ for mk2 capri gimme a shout. Try Tony at Butler Automart on Stanmore Rd. He's a pretty good dude.
