ddslancer
Hi I have a 2L cortine motor in my escort production saloon. I did an oil change when I first got it going (had been sitting for 2 years). then started it once a month or so over the off season, I noticed that there was so water in the oil and was guessing it was condensation. but when I went to do another oil change during the week almost 10L drained out the sump! So I pressure tested the cooling system and found that water was coming out the sump plug....great. so I ripped the head off and checked thet gasket but its like new no breaks or anything, have straight edged the surface yet but I will, will also get the head crack tested. But what I did see is that the intake manifold and even a little bit on the head around the water feed was corroded. I could also see milky oil going down the intake ports into all the cylinders. What I was wondering is would the water be leaking past the gasket on the intake then down the bores past the rings and into the oil??? Anyone had a similar problem before? sure it may be a cracked head or block (60 thou oversize) but with how much water was draining out it needs to be a BIG crack. Also the coolant wasn't contaminated still just plain water. Cheers
Borgweiser
loose head bolts? Sure that gasket was under enough compression?
Horse25
I had this problem before, It was a cracked head, but took them a few goes to find it as it was in one of the bolt holes which they were blocking up when crack testing it.
