Dont know how everyone else feels about swearing but FUCK

Manifold will not work

The housing is so close without any fittings in it, once fittings and right angles are attached they will be leaning on the turbo center. Hot oil is not ideal especially when sending it to an oil cooler then reheating it past a nice hot turbo housing.

Fuck

Ive noticed a lot of my photos have died in my thread, i am trying to remedy this.

Also have been asked what the other motor is and what the plan is.

Motor is a 86,000 km 3rzfe from a 2004 Hilux, its the complete conversion inc fly, bell, clutch, loom, coilpacks, ecu etc etc, I even heard the truck running before it was removed.

Plan: Stick it in factory NA and get the carina running so i can get on the track this summer, will keep everything even the yuck exhaust manifold and just see what it goes like. Next winter when i have garage space i will look at fitting a turbo then if i really feel i need more power.

I have left my job to go study at uni, so i am a bum until the 18th of feburary.

This means i will be working on the carina and carina related projects every weekday.

This was todays mission, a 80 x 7mm plate folder for making brackets and rails with for intercooler and seat rails.

Took me all day to round it up and make all the shit for the stand and bender. Machinary house wanted $260 for a stand, this cost me $67 in steel, and a can of spray paint.

Slow day today, ended up out at procoat trying to pick up something that wasnt ready, saving a bird from my cat, and finishing the brackets for the front of the carina.

Woo a nice camera to take photos with haha.

Finished the passengers side turbo manifold. It needed to be heavily modified to fit in the carina engine bay unfortunately.

But it is finished! and the bonnet clears which is a bonus. Also tested the front out with all the intercooler stuff inplace and they will need to be spaced forward 4mm a side to clear intercooler but thats fine. When you fit the bonnet you dont even notice that the lights are forward at all.

Old boy went to pick a part today to look at bumpers for it but he couldnt see a AE92 in the style we want.

The ruler was used as a guide, the turbo had to be underneath it for the bonnet to close.

All is going well so far.

Not bad progress in a week...

I just realised i hadnt even posted up pictures of the engine mounts.

196250_564193320274766_124928699_n.jpg

Note: In this picture the turbo manifold is dummied on, the bolts could not be bolted up as the turbo was fowling on the strut tower and the bonnet, we ended up having to move it all forward 65mm which is what i finished doing today.

They are painted orange to match the body haha.

They use the factory A series crossmember, and we have a set of TRD A series engine mounts for it on its way. Also made a new gearbox mount, and the driveshaft is fitted into the gearbox and it all looks good.

The only issue is it all need to come back out again to fit the flywheel as that got sent away to get the ring gear done, this took longer then expected and in that amount of time we had made the engine mounts, gearbox mount and fitted the engine all up.

Be good excuse to get the engine back out and give the engine bay a quick spray.

We took the old radiator support to PPG and got 3 cans of spray paint made up, shit is expensive but they assure us that it will adhere as well as the stuff out of a gun so heres hoping.
