Mr.Mk1
Discussion - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32925 I got another dead-sled! Always wanted a Valiant, since always. So I got one. Wagon of course, more room for Cunts, Cycles and Sounds and aquired items when out getting piss-eyed. It was on trademe a few weeks back but I failed and the auction ended when i was out missioning, reserve met at $4k. A week later it was re-listed because the buyer renegged on payment, So i felt around for the reserve and found it just below $4k again so took it away. Captain Transporter brought it down from napier for me for $722inc, which was the cheapest transporter, real switched on and too easy! It turned up on Monday so i checked it out, fluids and went for a cruise..not too big though as its been in storage since 2009. It goes real well, 265 Hemi looks to have been rebuilt at some stage too. Has funky red carpet, crushed velvet panels, curtain rails, a stainless bar so the coffin dosent mash you in the back of the nugget when you hit the picks and holes in the carpet for the runners. Dattochriswagon, RXOCSM and valiant have been helping me as ive been flat tack at work and need this slut ready for Nats so together weve: Pulled the carpets out-they were wet, Touched up some average paint and satin black charger black-outs on the bonnet, Replaced headlight that worked but had ventilation hole, Wound the tortion bars down to 100mm at the x-member for now, Installed some new and some borrowed sounds, New wipers, Pop-riveted a black plate found under the seat to the back of the rear one which had been rangled off and torn, Pulled door lock out for some new keys, Fixed wee exhaust leak, Just have to do 5 easy rust patches when the MIG comes back home, Install D and Link bushes, locking fuel cap ive ordered, Lowering blocks Pete is making (GC) and bolts made, and anything else I find, then get a Warrant and reg it some. As it stands at the end of play today. Gained some free low Plans include general use for now, want to Widen some Pacer steels to about 8 and eagers or BF's but not opposed to some Cheap Cragars or Tridens. New carpets, Paint black or maybe, just maybe the original dark Maroon metallic, Nudgebar, Visor, Aerials, Blood and rum stains
Mr.Mk1
Smashed out a 10:00 to 8:30 workload on it today. Rusts gone-15 patches, Nolatnane bushes in in front,Lowered etc. Off to WOF in the morning. If it passes..Methven. Thanks to my buds that came to watch and put my blocks in while i welded! Pics may follow
Mr.Mk1
Went out to do a few things before going for a WOF and the LR door handle snapped! Also had a mostly flat tyre. Limped down to the servo and pumped all the tyres up and tested air shock..work! Then the WOF guy wasnt open so cruised home at 40 cranking Pantera. And boring pictures be over. Mr.Mk1
Well, the things weve done since last update... I got it to oldschool nats relatively issue free. Actually magic considering it has been off the road so long then just drove it 1800km the morning after a 5pm WOF! Clocked over 3000km in the month its been back on the road, pissed it up alot and several good road trips. -oils/lubes and filter -replaced broken door handle -Chrome locking fuel cap -Handbrake with functioning internals -new brakes and drums (huge wear!) -Key cut for tailgate lock -Fixed loose mirror, wiper and visor -etc. Just saving for some wide rims and tyres now and chipping away at little shit in the mean time
Mr.Mk1
Been a while since I updated.. Nothing major really. -Collapsed wheel bearing and discovered broken top arm mount (old and poorly arch welded) so braced up both sides, new bearings and new Discs. -Painted the door window frames satin black..looks good, breaks up the white and makes car look bigger. -Second hand JBL boxed 12" subs and Infinity driver amp, goes real well. -Added a pillar aerial as the old one was missing. -Replaced the headlight switch as the wire coil behind it had flown to bits and lost dash lights. -Scored a regal padded dash, byChrysler badge, twin headlight grill and MINT nosecone and assorted bits for free. Dash top is split but still better than mine. Just have to find the time to chuck it in. It has the ciggy lighter i was missing, round gauges and a mirror in the glovebox. It has a bit of a miss on cold mornings. I had a look at dizzy cap (replaced now) and a wee bottom end noise ive noticed. Which means i might do a quick rebuild and new gaskets, seal up PS pump leak (fix that fuckin leaking frost plug too!) over my xmas holidays. I really want to tidy the body and Jam it but finding the time will be gay. Got rear ended by a land cruiser and didnt get any serious damage. The drivers side of the bumper is ever so slightly in and theres a bit more of a bulge from the iron but it was damaged before i got the car. I will keep an eye out for sweet bumpers, but I wont lose any sleep Still love the old bitch, cruise it most weekends and will be going to Alex Blossy and drags in September. my mate Justin seemed keen to convoy his CM sedan too. Got some 14x8 ROH Tridents and 245 50 Eagers
Mr.Mk1
Had a good stint on it yesterday in the sun.. I pulled the tailgate winder apart and tightened it up. I managed to find a big washer that was the right OD and filed the ID to suit so that fixed back n forth slop. The handle always sat sagged and gave me the shit so i fixed that by putting some thred-locker type product in where it attaches to rest of unit. Fluked it 'cause it worked mint and feels nice and tight. Also popped the dent in the middle of the tailgate out. Aired out the rear as its missing the weather strip and got wet in the rain. Drunk curiosity lead to people wrecking th ashtrays int the seat so I glued the caps on again. One of the spring tangs is broken but it sits in OK still. Tried to fix the wobbly drivers door mirror but gave up. What a gay job! Then after a BBQ and drinks we just happened to have a sober D and a carload so I was convinced to take it out for a cruise..Ideally should have refrained because shes running 2.1 deg camber still but was a good night and lots of positive comments from people. Ive also been to Two tyre shops for a wheel alignment but the locals machine was too small and another I tried across town couldnt get the gear on the wheel as its tucking guard up front. Was gonna try Chaimberlains, which ive heard good reviews about but closed on Saturday! Ill get my mate on night shift to take it in during the day ASAP! Mr.Mk1
Just scored a bench seat the same colour and style as mine in a much better state. 24 Speights, done. Was a garage couch and came with a wooden frame and piston feet.. Fire & Scrap metal!
Mr.Mk1
Bottom arm bushes are worn and too close to bumpstops. He said he would do an alignment but it would be untrue when bushes replaced, i said do it (just so less wear while its sussed).. he said on Friday! gaaaa! Might look to modify the bumpys or find some lo-profile ones (otherwise wind it up and back down when its done, just accept the wee bit of camber ill gain back) and try track down bushes. Hope to hell i can get tomorrow and put it through. And i had to drive a matte blue Daihatsu Mira while val was away..dis-concerting to say the least. Mr.Mk1
Late update. Got a green sticker in Alexandra for being on Bumpys in front, handbrake not adjusted and missing wheel nut. Parked over the weekend and fixed those bits, through for a VTNZ check and came up with Exhaust leak, rear Brake imbalance and headlight adjustment. Got her back to chch after being pulled over again to see what the go was. I fixed the issues and went through for another check.. exhaust still leaked and the brakes werent quite right. I Parked up behinf VTNZ and adjusted the brakes and sealed the exhaust, Went through for another check and got a new guy who went over the whole car again. He picked up dents in A pillar, rust in tailgate within 120mm on hinges, door hinges have too much slop and exhaust loose (Valiant has a shit steel-on-steel flange system from the manifold and my whole shit moved and made noises occasionly) A bit pissed, i went home and borrowed a car for a few weeks as theres a wagon available for parts but not for a month or so..Ill take its hinges and tailgate. I got a set of extractors for $40 that were on an engine on a stand in the quake, fell over and 90 degreed the collector. After cutting that off and cleaning up, attached in 2 parts (cunt job, as shared non-crossflow style and they were moving around on the gasket goo) Had to take the starter out to get old manifold out. When the two sets of extractors (3 & 3) were in, tried to slam the starter back in and CLUNK. no good. Was rageing so slept on it. Today I pulled the rear off, got starter in and re-applied goo (awful job as they rear flows were binding on the front flows giving a fingers width at most) but got 'er all back together. Fired it up, spit some flames, badass. Now to take it to the exhaust shop to make up a collector and tidy up the rear muff/over diff setup. Its shit and now its low its shittier. But not as shitty as welding exhausts so im opting out.
Mr.Mk1
Slotted that hinge in on Sunday. Cheers to Hornby Exhaust Specialists ive now got a long set of collectors on the old 3-2-1 headers, new muffler, over the diff and side exit. Sweet job, sweet dude and sweet price, recommended! Just the rust in the 'gate to hit this weekend and back in for re-re-recheck

Mr.Mk1
Sundays always a write off, but I wasnt too hung today so I dealt to the ass end. The Carpet isnt factory and tended to pack the gate out from the bod, get wet and dog-ear its self. I took all the scody old glue off and painted it up. Still ugly but its gonna get scratched so not too bothered. Found some new screws i had hoarded and screwed the panel on with some draught stop to eliminate rattles. Found that when the carpet was gone the gate was sloppy as an old one so made some bumpstop/spacers with some Datsun shock bushes I had in the toolbox. And slapped a badge on the seen side. Got a By Chrysler one to go on too but well see how much of the gate my friend paints up. Getting a BDA Wagoneers logo on it..
Mr.Mk1
Hooked the screen, dash and heater out looking for rust.. only a little bit under the screen rubber! Behind heater and under Plenum are dry as..RAPT! Also labelled dash and drew a diagram of my regal one im putting in instead. Few buggered wires and weird fixes under there but should go back together alright I hope. ... All back in, screen rubber and strip were a whore. Have no Fuel gauge or dash lights at the moment but will fiddle around with them. My brother gave it a tune when i was down south and saved a fair bit of gas on way home. Needs a new needle and seat, Gasket set and the Vac advance diaphragm has a hole. Been running real hot since so I did a water pump and thermostat to no avail. Have tracked down a good radiator, just need to pay and freight it. Hope its not a head gasket. The rust on the passengers side, Passy underside and drivers underside. I re-sealed the seams and plated the rust. Lotsa Lead to contend with The Regal dash in place. Fancy round dials. New rubber and mylar strip from rare spares. Shitbag job..rushed it and forgot how to do it but its in! Dash lights still a mystery. I have indicators, oil, brakes and hi-beam working, no others. I swapped the terminals on the back of the fuel gauge because it wasn't working. Then it reads full tank. ???
Guest Mr.Mk1
Not alot to report.. Finally put correct sway D bushes in (have noticed a bit of a shudder at 100,may be unrelated?) Moved the exhaust further from driveshaft and rear chassis and still have knocking noise when slowing down..i give up Removed the OLD AA stickers in the rear windows..they were cool but they were un-tidy. Turned to dust when i scraped them off! Removed rear arm-rests for some extra back-seat comfort Ran a few lights off the dash light that worked so now have night-vision! Added a byChrysler badge on tailgate Am cutting a deal for some carpets and a fuel gauge too hopefully. Walking back from the Tattoo studio I thought id test out the camera on i-pod thing my lady gave me, since the cars clean
Mr.Mk1
16 pages. Jesus. Stuffs happened in the mean time, none of it exciting or anything. Well the old girl took a back-seat while I was at uni but now im full time at BNT so have been using any spare time to learn the systems, using my car as an example. In doing so, have given it a new coil and plugs, cap + rotor + carb kit should be here before weekend. Also going to throw new leads at it next pay. Has a cunty miss, especially when cold so trying to cure that. Also sealed the leaking frost plug with some Sealwell cubes - this was a serious leak and i cant pull the engine to replace plug. It got real hot twice afterwards so i pulled out the thermostat in case it got chocked up and the cars been quite different..Used to run pretty bloody hot, now its under half most of the time so im enjoying that. Might have been a dud thermo all along. The drivers front wheel bearing that collapsed a year or 2 ago (broken arm mount = strain) got noisy again so biffed a new one in. The rears are shot to shit, always have been. desperate to replace them but need to organize a shop with gas and press etc. Guys pretty busy, so am i.Going to take all my loose change and get a few scratchies in the hopes of winning enough to give her new shocks. The Munroe gas arent too bad but im so sick and tired of these mother fucking roads trying to tear my car apart that any fresh items will be well received. Might try and swap my Nolathane bushes to rubber where possible too.
