2300sportshatch Posted January 7, 2011 Share Posted January 7, 2011 Hi all have a 1976 Vauxhall sportshatch 2279 and the 4 speed is giving me the utter s##ts I have an old 79 celica LT wreck and want to fit the box into it. seen some guys on here have done this what bell housing did u use the 4 speed or the 5 speed ZF/bedford CF . any help would be appreciated and some photos would help thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
vivaspeed Posted January 7, 2011 Share Posted January 7, 2011 I used to have two of these setups. Both were done by others before I got them. From memory, one used the Vauxhall/Bedford bellhousing with the gearbox end chopped and a new mating plate welded on (easy when using the steel 4-spd bellhousing) - quite a tidy job and made the gearbox input shaft the correct length. The other one was different, but can't recall how? One now lives in the white two-door HC advertised on Trademe with the 2.3 in it. Maybe ask Murray (the owner) for a picture?
