MESDUP Posted August 12, 2008 Share Posted August 12, 2008 ok so i thought i should start a project thread as it keeps a good timeline of your build etc Anyways i parted with my bongo on the 21st of june and recieved a 1979 323 4 door hatchback rolling body. As i plan to have this on the track i will be keeping it all fairly basic in the looks department and focus on the go. What it has: Hilux 4:4 LSD, Bluebird discs 2 series 4 oilcoolers welded on top of each other with 3 motor bike fans 3 core radiator with 2 therma fans on the front What i have bought for it so far: 10ib billet flywheel 5 puk clutch 1 ton billet pressure plate W58 supra box, adapter to rx3 bellhousing steel selectors Bosch 910 fuel pump, carter 4070 lift pump, custom made alluminium surge tank 1/2" fuel lines efi hardware 50mm ida style throttle bodies, 4 550cc injectors, microtec ltx8 will be running a 13b with rx8 rotors. will have more pics later Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MESDUP Posted August 14, 2008 Author Share Posted August 14, 2008 hmm, need to find my proper camera. anyways heres my new rear bumper, won some chrome end caps for a front bumper on trade me the other day so waiting on them to show up, also have a brand new(still in original mazda box) front chrome bumper, so just need to put new end caps on picked up my new adjustables today custom made surge tank, 16mm to main pump, 10mm from carter lift pump, 8mm rail return and 12mm return to tank From L to R: Fuel filter ($70) bosch 910 rated at $350hp 130 litres per hour (at 5bar) and Carter 4070 to be used as a lift pump B&M line locker installed with new lines (is not really a line locker when used in this application, but just to shut off rear brakes) New Racepro Rp2 driver seat, Racepro Arrow 101 passenger And the paint: Peugot Gris chateau aka dark gun metal grey Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MESDUP Posted August 15, 2008 Author Share Posted August 15, 2008 ok so dont all screw your noses up about the tail lights at once , this was/is a pretty notorious hatchy so still gona keep them on as it wont be the same car without them, if you get what i mean. anyways got my camera so now have better pics, heres my new rear bumper the custom 2x series 4 7 oil coolers welded one on top of the other should keep it cool got brand new, NOS bumper 2day and also my 2nd hand endcaps turned up so will use this on the front My EFI hardware 50 mm throttle bodies, the intake manifold give away what i will be running so will post a pic up of housings Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MESDUP Posted August 16, 2008 Author Share Posted August 16, 2008 Picked up my gilmer belt drive tonight, off to tauranga tomorrow to pick up my gbox as its had steel selectors fitted, turns out my W58 is a rare high strength model with a heat treated main shaft . MESDUP Posted August 17, 2008 Author Share Posted August 17, 2008 So it turns out my rx3 bellhousing is a bottom mount starter twin dizzy item so to me it means its useless as it wont bolt up to back of my motor. MESDUP Posted September 21, 2008 Author Share Posted September 21, 2008 picked up a set of M&H slicks, originally off the 323 so perfect fit Tyres are 235/60/14 and rims are 14x6 also autometer sport comp oil pressure, temp, water temp and tacho with memory setting also picked up a locked hilux diff with the perfect ratio to match the box this is the exact same package that was used to get this car running a 12.1 so crossed fingers i can keep up with those times Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Short shifter kit @ $250 That now bumps up the cost of my complete gearbox to $2050 heres a little spiel about them: Brand New short shifter to suit all the Celica and Supra W series gearboxes, W50, W55, W57, W58, W59 and R154 RWD models. Will suit both the steel case and aluminum models. This new short shifter reduces the movement of the gear lever by at least 50% both forward and back and from side to side allowing a quicker more positive shift right through the range.
