Bulldog's 1978 Opel Kadet Coupe (Gemini Coupe)

1978 Opel Kadet race car.

Bruce Kirk's ex racer, it was essentially a complete race car minus the rear end, seats and belts when I bought it hence I took it to my good friend Tony Lynch of lynchbuilt (Race car fabricators). Bruce had cut channels to four link the rear but hadn't gone much further.

Things I've done thus far in Red

Vauxhall / Opel C20XE twin cam 'Redtop' motor running twin 45 Webbers

Electronic ignition

5 speed sierra with short shift kit

Complete Suspens coilovers all round

Willwood Brakes up front and new discs and calipers at rear, hydraulic handbrake

Ford Escort Diff with Quaife LSD head four linked with watts linkage

Holden two piece drive shaft

Full cage

Rebuilt the channels and floor where previous owner had attacked

Performance wheels alloys

Yokohama Advan semi slicks

There's plenty more but you get the picture.

Here's a few pics of the build to date and some of the car in action at Puke last year.

Another update lads....it's almost there. I went up for a seat position measure up.

ALl suspension and floor rebuild complete, needs some paint inside.

THings to do:

Put gearbox and drive shaft back in

Install battery in the boot

Finish fuel cell box and connect fuel lines

Mount computer in a proper bracket and sealed container

check all the bits and bobs and hopefully fire her up for a test drive!

Well well well...it's been a long day but a very rewarding day indeed!

Everything is going! Everything! Simply need to mount the seats in and tidy up the welds/paint and we're laughing.

Can I just say that it sounds awesome! Think BDA escort screaming through the forests and that's kinda what it sounds like.

I've got some pics and video to come of use 'testing' it :)
