10Speed Posted December 1, 2014 Author Share Posted December 1, 2014 so in a little more detail... currently has screamer pipe, might be legal this far back? also has muffler, but I also have a dump pipe to replace this with when going to the track has fuel pressure reg and guage in the crappiest place ever - but kind of works has a wide drop sump, total oil capacity is about 6l now, also provides a handy return point for post turbo oil also has a proper oil filter, first time I have had one of these on a vw it also has one of these bolted underneath... 9 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

10Speed Posted December 20, 2014 Author Share Posted December 20, 2014 Well that was short lived... driving a long the motorway making blow off value noises.... waiting at the lights at the off ramp with the clutch in... release the clutch and it seems gearbox has locked up... manage to push it to a traffic island (with the help of an Impala driver).... sigh.... off to google the symptoms now... 10Speed Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share Posted January 21, 2015 still having transmission issues (cheers for the escort home from burgers Chris and Tara), new trans is on the way - will hopefully be here in time for OS trackday... in the meantime I have been talking to an old school formula vee racer/builder guy about how they made their cars handle, as they use the same front suspension that I have. 10Speed Posted July 2, 2015 Author Share Posted July 2, 2015 some research I should have done ages ago... rear track early swing axle 1288mm rear track late swing axle 1300mm rear track irs 1349mm the new drums also add 2mm to the track, but bottom line is the rear track is 63mm greater than it used to be... beetle rear control arm I have heard rumors that clever men have been able to narrow these 25/29mm between the bearing carrier and the spring plate mount so that might be a possibility in the future..
