Well I've had this car for 18 years and it's been to hell and back, from getting the whole netball team (including coach) to just getting painted then getting hit by a drunken driver (15 years ago). Well as things go in life other commitments change our path but the 2 is on the move to me again and my wife kids and I are all keen to get the old girl back to the near perfect dream I always had.

Have just got the suspension parts out of the boxes they had been entombed in for the last 15 years and have just got a B2000 housing and axles for the rear

Dirty pic but this was 1 hour after the painter had put the trims on... 4 hours before the guy hit it

Well due to a change at work I got to pick up the new motor a day early. I'm not sure really what the Trina thinks but me and the kids are very happy.

The funiest thing about this engine is the flywheel that is I would say and will confirm later the heaviest component of this engine, how you can stall these engines beats me.

A look at this pic and you will see it is 50mm or 2" thick lol.

My nephew is over for a bit and is being a huge help. He pulled the mk3 zephyr struts apart today, now have 5 stud on the front but have realised the sump is going to fowl with all the steering components so its sort it out or cut it out.

I hope to get the diff issue (what one to use) sorted so the car will be rolling and we can get the panel work sorted.

I got some side skirts from a mk2 escort that my brother had. Was thinking maybe get some flares like Dylans to go with them and see how they look.

Well due to people not coming back to pay my business during the christmas break, I have been spending a lot of time chasing money (more my tail) but here is where I'm at now.

I have the W5 celica housing adapted to my bellhousing now and that huge fly wheel of the engine.

Due to the mazda diff being stuffed I have the L300 diff sitting in on my single leaf springs and have worked out that I need to widen the front to match.

I think that the extra width will make it handle better and it should be a more stornch look when on its wheels.

I will look at bumpers and things over the next few weeks.

My inlaws came over for the weekend so all I had time to do was to try to start getting the track width on the front sorted and start moving the stainless drop tank accross (the last engine running in this car was a pinto 2.3 turbo (very sick then died due to previous owner being a good con man) so the exhuast was on the wrong side.

Due to some life changing stuff going on the car has to be moved to our single garage (and its going to be tight!!!).

Also my L300 one has turned out to be a big "sorry we forgot to mention that we put a late model diff in that van 6 months before you brought it" kinda deal. So you can't get LSD units or the right ratio's for these ones and the axles are no better than the standard cortina ones.

Anyway will post some pics when they come out of the new frontend and the engine sitting in it.

Well its been a while since I up dated but I'm in a new job now and we are nearly back to normal.

Had to sell alot of my gear during the sale of my business (sold it just before I had to shut it down) so progress will be slow due to work commitments and lack of funds.

I have though started to get my side draughts mounted up and all the new suspension parts sorted.

Will update as things happen but it will be slow now.

Once again the car was put on the back burner due to an emergency shift (father inlaw has cancer) but the move was better for room for the car :P

I finally got the right diff and an LSD unit.

Also have 4 pot hilux calipers for the front (just working out the discs now).

But the best thing so far is these:

Now I know the pic is shit but I broke my phone in the shift.

Hope to get the engine mounted and all the front suspension sorted by November.

Well its been a while since my last update and I have been busy with alot of other stuff but..... I have now got the front seats and console I will be using.

I'm in the process of sorting out the steering colum and rear seat mounting brackets (using an 84 Honda Prelude (yuck car I know but good rear seat)flip forward one).

My 11 year old daughter pointed out a few more dents since I have shifted last time and I have decided the next time it is posted on here it will look a lot better.

I'm lucky enough to have a very interested Wife and 3 kids who are more keen to get it going than I was but I think I'm going to be over taking them now, LOL.

Well Labour weekend came and went a lot faster than the weather stayed predictable lol.

The plan was to get the body bare metaled and the rust preventer on.... BUT it didn't go that way but I made the shed useable again and sorted my grill ideas.

Heres the standard one.

And heres my version with the indicator and park light removed.

I think it looks better anyway and here it is with the lights mocked up.

Also a bad pic below but I like the stalkers I picked up a while back.

Also before I put the bonet back on I got a shot of the engine in the car

I PM'd Gaz to querry him on his rack conversion and have hit a bit of a brick wall till I get the option to sort out a different setup.

I will post some more pics more often as I got a new phone and can work on it with more room.

I hope to pick up the doner diff for the spring pads this weekend coming and try to get them off and setup on the other one.

Also I will post some pics of the seats and console now that they are sitting in place properly.

My 3 year old boy told me today I need a smoker pipe out the back (exhaust pipe) and indicators on the back so I don't get a ticket.

If it were only that easy to make the old girl run again lol

BUT SOON SHE SHALL BE ALL MOCKED UP AND RUNNING

Well once again I have silly issues and the biggest one is the carbs hitting my brake booster

I set the car up with my pinto turbo for the ciruit at Pukekohe when it was off the road and altered so much I had forgotten how many things I had altered.

So now I have to reinvent the wheel or go back to the pinto which I have just got hold of one and start back to where I was :doubt: This one will only be twin side draught as the 9k I spent on the last one is not available this time.

Palmside also do very cheap brand new manifolds $300-00 plus freight and I also have just priced up a quick rack as the rack ends are easier to sort out on the right version I'm told.

Also I just realised my brother sold my gearbox with his escort so my gearlever position is a lot different.

On the up side I am finally getting my shed sorted and will have some pics up soon of the new set ups I will be doing.

A big thanks to Gaz for sharing his information and I will show a step by step how to do for the crossmember conversion as I get it sorted.

at least I have my front seats sorted now though.

Well its been alot of coming and going for me on this project and it's not over yet.

The DOHC is out and I went and saw Spanfarmer to buy his 2.3 Pinto as I still want my car to be very different and more of my own ideas.

Here is the short block bolted to my W50 RA28 gearbox

photo0092vr5.jpg

So anyway when I was talking to Spanfarmer he was talking about the VOLVO heads fitting on to these blocks and the next weekend I went to pick a part to get some parts for my wifes van and there was a 940 sedan there with the rght head.

The cambelt was broken and that ment it was stuffed right????

Well it has 16 bent valves and I managed to track down the owners details to find out it happened when the cambelt was done and it never actually fired up (slow means less damage).

So here is what I'm doing now.

photo0107tk2.jpg

And this is my prototype for the injection (I have new ones being made shortly)

photo0122ia1.jpg

Trina wanted injection over carbs for less maintanence and since she has been helping pull stuff off and sort stuff with me, I'm letting her make some of the desicions........ unless I happen to find a set of 50mm side draughts for a very good price :lol:

The down port angle is 45 degrees on the inlet so it should sound Very Cool and rightfully cosworth.

I have also found a donor car and have been getting parts that are better than mine and we are now starting to get together a very cool family project.
