shizzl
just an update... sold the 40mm side draft,so got some spare $$$ in the bank.. still deciding on the colour to paint it,thinking either the graphite grey,or a plum red, sort of like a dark burgandy/purple or whatever.. will probably keep the chromies that are on it,as i cant find any 3 piece deepdish rims for it being a british oldschooler... the 10a arrives later this week will just give it a clean up on the outside, maybe even paint the end plates to make t a little bit flashier.. need to find another 205/60 so i can actually take it for a wof check..pain in the butt being on the coast, you have to drive for hours to get anywhere and no-one has what you need.. just need a buyer for the old 1300 and box so i dont have stuff sitting around home(no shed to put it in) once i get a wof ill put the 10a in it,do any mods needed to the trans tunnel/firewall,then slam it hard, ill most likely try to get the front guards rolled so it doesnt gash my tyres.then ill paint it..then chuck in some nice seats, guages then cert for it all...and done, just cruise it.. in the long term id like to rebuild it with a nice bridgeport, nothing too massive, dont want to go into the water jackets/seals etc..drillport?hmmm NAH! i found a site that had ford motorsport guages for sale but cant seem to find it again, theyr super sexy, but real $$$$$pricey... will start putting up pics once everything starts to come together. shizzl
10a arrived today..looks all good, apex seals are intact, has good compression..no leaks anywhere. gearbox is quite small compared to what i was expecting..
shizzl
basically havent done anything for a while...its just been parked up,although i got a new tyre for it today, will take it for a wof next week, hopefully it wont need too much shit done to it,maybe just a new seat belt, its a non retracting belt,so i may flog one from the back of an old van i use as a storage shed anyway, heres a decent pic of the side of it..it needs to lowered and a decent paint, the matt black is real thin and oxidised..basically its a shit paint job..cant wait to fix that up...but thatll have to wait till i get the 10a mounted etc, then ill haul it back out to paint it... shizzl
trying to get my stupid camera to work on my newly aquired computer... anywho an update: basically just been gathering the nescessary parts... picked up my 2 racetech 4000 seats from chch (paid $265 pair) theyr actually pretty good condition, one small tear where somethings fallen onto it,need a clean though.. next on the shopping list....i picked up a set of 13' SSR mesh rims.. i think theyr only 6" wide though, but atleast theyr not buckled or rusting.. ill chuck my cooper cobra gt's on them, slap them on the esky.. then get her ready for a bit of panel n paint. as for the engine its a fairly slow going there.. i wanna get everything im gonna need for it here before i do any chopping/modding.. i have: 10a engine complete gearbox, starter etc oil cooler coils mounts extractors i need: oil cooler hoses engine bracket fuel pump radiator rowdy dumpy muffler air filter as soon as i get my camera sorted ill throw up some new pics.. shizzl
ahuh there we go... the seats are the type that are non covered on the back with raised "racetch" lettering across it..looks sick.. just need side mounts for them.. the wheels are 4x110 so may need to give them a slight file *cough* what ya all think? shizzl
finally moved to the new house the other night,so i started to pull the 1300 out. i decided to drop it out the bottom as the roof is too low being a double story... what a dumb mistake...it was a bitch to do...had to undo the steering etc, drop the struts(cos i cocked it up)..anyway,it took 4hours work, and only using a small floor jack, some wood and normal tools... when i dropped the engine down and slid it all out bolted to the cross member i realised why my wheel alignment was out...the left control arm was well bent.time to get a new one.. best thing about this new place,is i have a parts room,a work bench, and flouro lights everywhere...makes a huge difference.. you can see how bent the control arm is in this pic... only problem with removing an engine etc is you get to find any damage to the body, this mk2 obviously has "bumped" into something.not a massive hit cos the rails arent bent, but enough to distort the front... are these standard escort calipers?to me they seem quite large, but small pads..perhaps why theyr lacking. this is how high i had to lift it to get the motor out the bottom.. shizzl
while i had the 2 gearboxes side by side i did a wee comparison..the sizes are the same, girth etc,the rx3 box is longer,i figure if i can push the 10a forward 40/50mm for the rx3 box mount lines up with the escort mount i should be right, depending how far forward the front of the engine sits... ill get the 10a dropped off today from y old place so i can do some measuring.. last time i measured it think i came out with the 10a being 80-100mm shorter than the 1300.. cant remember.. what will be the deciding factor will be the sump placement.i dont want it on some hory angle. or too far forward,or upside down. these are the pics of the gearboxes...for some reason this image hoster keeps making my pics HUGE! so sorry for the huge pics, but you do get detail
shizzl
put the engine in yesterday arvo.. will need to make a custom sump or spin the sucker around.. the sump bowl needs to be where the retarded escort rack is sitting. so i hope if i can spin the sump around and modify the pick up,i can get it to clear the crossmember and drop the engine down as low as possible... mounts are gonna be a breeze in it aswell.. where i want the engine to sit which is as far back as i can really, the shifter lines up with the escort shifter hole!boyah! making the extractors to fit will be the fun part i guess...not.. it would be nice or plain luck if my extractors could just bolt straight in...who knows. ill find out once ive spun the sump around and then reset it all again...but thats for tomorrow.. im off to speedway.. pics to come,i put them all on kiwirotary....but it takes ages,so they can wait.. heres the link if you wanna see the new pics.. http://www.kiwirotary.com/phpbb3/viewto ... f=7&t=1206
shizzl
had a go at mocking up a tunnel today.. can get the steel etc,but need to find a mig welder somewhere on the coast! ive got an arc but they suck balls.

shizzl
pics from the other day... because of the stupid location of the steering rack, its in the way of the sump...so i need to mod the tunnel and firewall..
