Are they cheap? Looks pretty cool
I paid 750 bucks for it and it's running, driving and legal haha.
Admittedly they're not usually that cheap but this one has nearly 300k on the clock and is a lil scruffy.
It is the "aero" spec though so has the better kit, black interior and most importantly the 1.8 4g93 over the normal lesser models which have the 1.5 4g15.

Older ones aren't well suited for transalpine trips lol. Battery will have lost a bit of life with that trip lol. You guys did well though, when does the video go live?
I like how you say "older" haha. I do not consider a 2013 car old.
Got a bunch of sharn footage to compile into a video, and us panicking as the range dropped 25ks going from the bottom of porters pass to the top lol

Better start snapping those k11s up before everyone catches on.
We actually did a comparison just before Xmas taking a leaf from chch to greymouth. Ended up spending close to 30 bucks at fast chargers and a good 1.5 hours waiting for the charge. Thankfully nobody else needed to use them. And between otira and greymouth was the biggest stretch with no charging points (80ks) and we just got there before it went to limp/turtle mode. Oh and after 3 fast charges the batteries were pinging the temp gauge too. This is a 2013 leaf with 10 bars of life whatever that means, it's not an end of life one I know that much. Oh and can't be in eco mode if you wanna do the speed limit apparently. Fuck they're shit.
Funny thing is we took a 90s hyundai sonata with a 3.0v6 (mitsi 6g72) along with it. And refueled in greymouth. Used 22L of fuel which cost 60 bucks to refuel. If we recharged the leaf to full at another fast charger there it would've been another $10-15. Plus more waiting. So once you add on the rucs for a 250k journey like that, roughly $15-20 on rucs at the prices stated. You're not much better off than a $1000 piece of shit hyundai. And you won't have to wait 2 hours to use it.
Better living NZ.

Nice work mate, will get you over the line for licenses and little fucks given if dropped.
Yeah that's sorta how I see it. Don't wanna invest in some 6k bike then drop it and cri 5eva.

Yeah so I bitched out and bought this CantBeFucked250. Purely cause it was cheap as. 1k with a brand new wof. Couple scratches and shit here and there but meh I'm probably gonna dump it a couple times anyway.
Runs well and rides sweet as. Not a powerhouse by any stretch but it'll do to wham me through the licenses. Is a cunt to get into neutral while the engine is running and it's stopped so hoping an oil change and a clutch cable adjustment fixes it. Overall I'm happy for what I paid, figure ya can't go too wrong at that price.

Yeah I found quite a mix (dealer quality wise) while shopping, but it was my preference to go with a yard for the above reasons. CGA is pretty powerful, but painful if dealing with someone less interested in after sales service.
EV has landed here, i'm going to struggle to not be one of those EV fans, I know it. Mrs hasn't even seen it other than some low res photo, hope she likes it.
Soo... anyone want to buy a Toyota Blade? Goes hard for what it is etc
So I'll be seeing you in the left lane doing 85-90kmh from now on? Puhuhu.

They often come up, so keep looking!
They're quite common.
Yeah definitely. Much cooler than a gn250 especially being a v-twin.

Lame, just looked on trademe and marketplace and there's none around.

Have a look for a yamaha srv250. Can often get them under 1500. They're a handsome little factory cafe vee-twin.
Will be great to learn on, infinitely more interesting than a gn250. In the same price bracket. And have a cult following. Share engine bits with xv250 so can get lots of parts off ali express. Available in a few interesting colors.
Ooh didn't know about them. I like that, quite a lot.

Vtr250 is a good bike if you like naked bikes.
Wanna buy a zzr250?
Probs a bit too sportbikey for my liking. Quite a high riding position aren't they?
Yeah I definitely dig the naked bikes.

Oof 8 year thread dredge.
Been fiending to get my bike learners so I can legally ride something that's not a scoot/moped plated smol bike.
Like the thought of something like an MT07 or similar but just can't justify throwing that much coin at something that I could well drop a few times, still a pretty novice rider.
What are your guys thoughts on something that's not a punishing gn125/250 but not quite a shit hot, top spec LAMS bike? Not into the cruiser style nor sportbike cause of the riding position. Thinking along the lines of a GS500 or VTR250, 250 bandit/hornet etc.

I've been extremely tempted by this one. Manual too and local. Sounds like he'd take 5k for it. 200k and cambelt is due I'd say
