Dad told me today that he plans on helping me make a roof rack, one like in the photos below. Quite excited about this, having it finished (hopefully) before christmas would be great for the summer!

Found out that the problem with the engine was that the points had a too small of a gap, and pulling the choke out only masked the problem. Thanks heaps to dad and one of his mechanic mates who got the problems all sorted. Lumpy cam sounds great now, definitely turns heads when I turn up at the lights.

1.6L is in!! Needs a tune, if I get a video, does anyone think they could diagnose a problem with how it runs?

Also decided not to weld up the extractors to the stock exhaust, decided not to put the 2" straight through on, don't want to get hassled by the police! When I get some time free, I'll be cutting the extractors from the 2" and fitting them to the current one.

It's been a while since I updated this but here I go 1.6L engine swapped over, had a problem with the weber so changed back to the 1.3 carb for now. Thought for the problem is the fuel/air ratio is off, should be getting a friend of my Dad to help tune the webber up nicely. Lumpy cam turns head EVERYWHERE, especially rolling up at the lights. Before we got the 1.6L we fixed the tappets in the 1.3, but now the 1.6 needs to be done. Just waiting for a rainy afternoon to get it done.

Missed my update..: I'll start by posting this link for a video I made quickly about the engine running. 1.6L escort engine + gearbox + exhaust is all out of the parts car along with the glove box and center console. This coming saturday is the day me and my Dad set for putting it all into my car. I'm not sure if I'll put the exhaust on straight away, may need some work to quieten it down to make it all road legal, and make sure I'm not going to be hassled by the police.

Got the glove box and the center console w/ clock out of the parts car, but ran out of time to transfer them over. Will get them put in hopefully tomorrow and will get some photos of the interior

haha my dad used to make contraptions that pretty much turned the exhaust loud and quiet, I'll draw up a picture of what I mean later on I'm not too sure what the cam is, I'll find it all out soon. I'm free most of this week so it'll all good. @Beasty I'll be sure to take heaps of photos, hopefully the weather holds up!

@Jesse $20 and they're all yours $1000 for the whole thing. Just have to try regain my funds now! @Starcov I'm not too sure, haven't had much time to inspect it. I'll get back to you on that. BTW anyone think that is too loud for a wof?

Chose a day with dad to do the full conversion. 29-30 OCT will be the days it all happens Also had heaps of comments on the hotwires, people love them!

By the end of the day, we had the starter motor fixed and the wheels swapped over. Goals: full engine + gearbox + exhaust conversion

Have some good and bad news. 1) Starter motor shat itself. 2) Scored myself a parts car equipt with; - Starter motor! - 1.6L Engine w/ lumpy cam - Sports gearbox - Coby extractors + 2" straight through exhaust - Hotwire wheels! - "FORD" Seatbelt buckles - Glovebox - Center clock

I brought myself a little something special, I'll get some photos tomorrow when there's some good lighting. definitely excited for this

haha that's true!! only thing is a paint job isn't very high on the to-do list

I'm just unsure painting only the airdam, since the paint has almost 40 years of sun on it!

It's why I'm hesitant to tint the windows, then the public can't see it!

@Jesse I'm not too sure on spoilers since it's not sport or a coupe. I know NOTHING about lowering cars :/ @Beasty Will be tinting the windows eventually. EVERYONE seems to love the interior. I personally love the blue + white colour scheme.

I never noticed any camber? What exactly do I need to buy? - My dad's an engineer but I'm new to the car scene.

I think I'm gonna have to wait on the wheels, pick the right ones! How low would YOU go?

One last thing for the night, what would you guys think of a front and rear spoiler on the 1.3L ? I LOVE the look of them, but not too sure on a sedan Escort.
