Hi All, I am looking for some part time help in our little store in Birkdale. I need someone to work a couple of hours a day to pack / dispatch goods, book-in deliveries, handle a few phone calls when the main man is busy etc. There will also be some interaction with customers who come to our place. We work above a busy classic car garage and sell car parts for Classic Mini, Morris Minor, MG, Triumph and Jaguar so an interest in cars is good but not at all essential...if you know someone not on the forum who might be interested please spread the word... I need someone trustworthy, flexible and reliable. The right person will have the chance to increase the hours and get more involved in the growth of the business, as it stands, we're only able to go to 10 hours per week and this must be spread over at least 4 days between 11 am and 4pm, otherwise it's flexible within those hours. Hey Felixx, the main advantage of electronic ignition is the "set and forget" aspect. Once it's installed it doesn't need to be gapped or set ever again. Because it's a sensor instead of a mechanical contact, it is more reliable and gives a stronger spark. Even if your car runs fine on points, you will still benefit from better fuel economy with electronic ign. For your Anglia you have different options; you can install a conversion kit into your own distributor for about $80 or you can buy a whole new reproduction distributor for about $200. With both of these options, you don't need to change anything else but we do recommend changing cap, rotor arm and leads to get best advantage from the conversion. Also, I do like to recommend either a Lucas Gold sports coil or a Bosch Blue Coil with the electronic ignition, these are both excellent quality coils without being so powerful they lose their reliability like the cheap 40,000v coils you can get. It all depends how deep your pockets are. There is also a high energy distributor available, this requires a change of coil (to one with primary resistance lower than 1.5 Ohms, such as the ones fitted to cars with factory-fit electronic ignition) these are $250 and the price includes the coil. The new distributors that we supply come with a mechanical advance curve to suit the Anglia Pre-xflow. We are the NZ agents for Powerspark ignition, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Cheers K-trips, who would I get to certify the work?

Hi guys, I have a '66 Hillman Super Minx and as with most 1960s saloons, it has no rear seat belts. Has anyone fitted a car seat (rear facing one) to a car with no rear belts? Our child seat has ISO mounts which work perfectly well in my Ford Mundane-O but I was wondering if I can install the mounting points into the boot of the Hillman or whether I should fit seat belts to the back and which would be safest. Any pointers would be gratefully received Matt

Hi, I'm looking for an old car door. Please PM me if you have one kicking around and would like it to go to a new home... Door needs to be: A light colour complete with all exterior trim and window / mirror (if fitted) reasonably priced (cheap) in Greater Auckland area It also needs to have a large-ish plain surface (no swage line). Thanks for your question Snoozin. The 2 workshops I am currently offering are aimed more at a novice level. These are introductory workshops, I would say that if you are already looking at the use of light rigs and creating studio lighting, you are already too advanced for what is being offered here. I am looking at introducing dates for an intermediate workshop, probably next autumn and anyone wishing to step up from these beginners' workshops will be catered for here as well as more advanced amateurs. In response to a couple of other questions: There will be no classroom or studio time, the workshops will be on location. The meeting point will be the boat lockers on Sulphur Beach Road, just North of the bridge and we will move onto a second location that will offer different challenges and scenery. Course content includes, Composition, Framing, Natural and camera-mounted flash lighting, Depth of field, ISO, Shutter Speeds, Scene Settings for compacts, use of shadows etc. I will talk about the theory and there will be handouts but the majority of learning will come from doing and group challenges and discussion. Compact cameras are more than welcome. There is no base skill level needed to take part. Whatever level you are at currently, you will notice significant improvement by the end of the day. You will be able to understand; not only why your shots are coming out as they are, but also what to try to improve them next time.

Hi guys, I will be running some *introduction to automotive photography* workshops throughout the Summer in Auckland. The workshops will be aimed at beginners with a mild understanding of photography but with a desire to practice a few techniques and learn some new ones. There are 2 types of workshop: Workshop #1 is a 4 hour session on a Saturday or Sunday. The main feature of this workshop is that your own car will be your subject on the day and I will keep the group size to a maximum of 4 people so I can give everyone plenty of guidance. *by the end of the session you should have some great shots of your car(s) and a much better understanding of how you did it. Workshop #2 is also 4 hours, but, with a group size of 8 max. There will be just 3 or 4 subject cars chosen by me on the day. You are encouraged to bring your own car and I will choose which ones to photograph based on what I think will offer the most variety and best practice. I would like to photograph one of each of the following cars: Ke30 Corolla ( preferably standard - unmodified) pre- 80 mini ( ideally with roof detail, checks, union jack etc.) The tattier the car, the better for this one. GTS Monaro ( anything from the 70s with a bit of muscle) X- Falcon (as above, I would love to know if anyone has Ford AND Holden?)
