Car being shipped up from Invercargill, being dropped off in Bleheim on train, only bugger is that I can't get over there until the weekend. Do they store vehicles somewhere secure? I can't visualise any storage there at all so I'm just a wee bit worried it may end out dumped on the side of the road...

MS53 Crown Wagon with 1/2JZGE, column shift auto, bench seat, restore with slam/widened steelies
This would be my dream project car / dream car, last time it came up for sale wife said yes, but sensible head said Demio = win for 1 income child mover.
Plus I'd be nervous as fuck every time she drove it
Project would be Rat Soft top BJ40 (diesel) running on vege oil...like below but more rust, or at least flat paint

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz will be much more useful to you I'd imagine...general consensus is that for short term you're best selling the bike in Aus and buying something else when you get here....
-
ive highsided my moto before
Moto as in Supermoto? That would be scary as fuck...
-
Ooooo I need to get a photo of the factory TE71 GT that an old couple here drive, fender mirrors and beauty rings intact.

Mum and Dad's '08 H1 Van (new shape) 2.5 Turbo Diesel put a piston through the block at 15,000km...bloody nice to drive though + the dealer upgraded them to the 'commercial' warranty for free, 5 years/500,000km from 2011
-
Mines here too now... ah well two copies will be fine!
-
My parents have a new Hyundai H1...I would have recommended that until 3 weeks ago when it put a piston through the block at 15,000km with no warning, replaced under warranty but it's been a bit of a honeymoon period killer

1980 Honda Accord Hondamatic back in 1998, My grandad's car, no stereo, and boy did it understeer...never managed to write it off, sold with the idea that my parent's might help pay for a computer if I got rid of it (they didn't, and WTF?!). Promptly replaced with 1983 Honda Prelude - lush

Hmmmm pretty weird that we've all missed our issues...do they have an expected delivery time?
-
pretty sure my old teacher at school would have jammed my hand in the lathe if i had done that
Would be lying if I said I'd never been tempted...same kids that get a new MX bike EVERY year when I'm still trying to get my 1988 DR250 going reliably 2 years later...

Don't touch unbranded Chinese stuff even with an enormous pole. I teach Engineering at a high school and the Chinese lathes have all needed work within 3 months of being installed. The originals are Atlas and ~50 years old and bullet proof, tungsten carbide tips are awesome too
Having said that kids are brutal testers of equipment forward/reverse without stopping etc.

Would be my pick as the Carba-tec stuff seems to be a pretty good quality for the price (handles the abuse of kids pretty well too!)

Hmmmm posting date was supposed to be the 16th of June, still no show here, anyone else have any luck?
-
$25k...
iMev $60k?
Somewhere between these two I reckon you'd actually get some takers if you could prove you had a quality product. Not for me personally (I walk the 200 m to work...) but my parents would love one as a second car

whats the deal with registering a custom build? can you call it whatever you want? and make up a chassis number or does it have to fall into a certain category?
Call it whatever you want go into the post shop, pay some $ and they'll give you a plate...provided you do it before the end of the month. There will be parts that you don't know how to fill in, just leave them blank.

I can't believe you'd be thinking of selling this fine vehicle. I was two seconds off jumping on the KP when you offered that up a few years ago.
Power steering is definitely key in these, a mate had one as his first car a manual 2500TC, parallel parking was a prick when I was a weedy 15 yo. Induction noise was sooooo sweet, especially compared to my hondamatic Accord

I almost bought a lush 604 when I was 16 *sigh*
I so would have killed myself with a 2.7L V6...I haven't seen one IRL since.

Pluses of moped route
- You don't even need indicators or brake lights I used to have a road legal goped, 37km/h on 4" wheels was fucking scary.
- You don't need a bike licence to ride it, or even carry a passenger.
- Rego costs are crazy for bikes (anything above 50 cc), and as the guys above mentioned you will need cert for mods.
Why 49 cc shouldn't put you off!
- Air cooled 49cc smoker pushing 250kg at 70km/h (GPS not speedo) in a Hyosung Rallye...
- Water cooled smoker, 6 speed manual Suzuki SMX (or RMX) 50, capable of 90 on the flat...pretty rare in NZ as they cost $5500 new (when an RG150 was $2995).
Yes, technically mopeds should not be more than 2 kw, or capable of more than 50, I follow the breakoneruleatatime technique and I've never been fined...
-
It's a book, here you go...can be had cheaper at Whitcoulls, $24.50 when they're desperately trying to boost sales!
-
Hmmmmm I ended out with exactly the same problem, and have been charged for 52 issues! Only one confirmation email so far, have emailed and asked to just get 2 years...4 years would just about be my longest relationship
-
Hmmmmmm confirmation was pretty much instantaneous for me, though the website crashed the first time. Hopefully I've only got one subscription! Sharing mine with my old man, even better!

Name: Will
Location: Nelson
Cars you own:
Mazda Demio...
Mods to them: You're joking right...?
How you found out about oldschool: Toyspeed
Anything else you want to add: In days old I've had my share of older school rides, Datsun 1200 Sedan, S12 Silvia, 79 Accord Sedan. Now I'm a Dad I want to have a car that I can share with my kids. I have access to a pretty decent workshop, MIG, Plasma, Arc, Oxy Acetelene, Lathe, Mill, decent size drill presses etc. so it makes sense that I utilise it while I upskill...
Blenheim Train Station

$380 from Invercargill to Blenheim, only way to get cars lower than 150 mm clearance up apparently...
Cheers EvoBilly, will be in touch quite probably, insurance are pretty keen on it being garaged at all times so I might just have to mission over on the day it comes in (on that note does anyone know a clever way to get from Nelson to Blenheim after work? Bus is only 8:30 am in the morning...) New car for my little bro who is in London, he wouldn't be too happy about #*^& going missing...
