  1. My E36 died on xmas day. I was moving house a day or so later so I towed it to my father in laws place in Drury. I now live up in Whangaparaoa and need to bring the car to my new place so I can tinker with it without having to drive an hour each way every time I want to try something.

Any recommendations on a good place to hire a car trailer would be ace. Will be towing with a 2016 navara turbo diesel ute.

    Cheers!

  2. mid 90s mitzi glant gt sports (the ugly liftback one) haul ass.

Otherwise the E36 328 BMW has to be great value - I bought mine at the end of 2008 with 160,000kms for $5500, it has now done 303,000kms and still goes sideways in the wet and chirps away from the lights in the dry (auto)

Only thing that has failed is the fuel pump - got a new one for $30 from a 528i at pickapart.

I would think it is only worth $1000 now.

  3. I live in manurewa. We don't have forecourt attendants but on the weekend one of the window-washing toothless meth-head scrotes from the mahia rd intersection set himself up on the forecourt of the mobil waiting till people went in to pay before washing their windscreen. Way more intimidating when you are outside of your car. I drove past again an hour later and there was a patrol car parked on the forecourt and no window washers to be seen.

I can't wait to move away from here.

  4. I have a E36 328 sedan that has done just over 280,000 kms, and lately it seems a little hesitant at low revs. Never thought about looking at VANOS seals. It is a single vanos M52B28. It has been super reliable, I have had it since 160,000. The only major I have had to do was the ABS pump. Goes round corners real good too.

  5. This thread here...

Is a bloody good read!!!! The dude has some pretty fucking impressive skills and knows how to write an interesting thread. Glen- you'll know this one already from Exile yeah?

That is epic, I just wasted most of my morning reading that thread from start to finish. A lot of people would not have bothered with that shell, it was well rotten.

  6. I live in Manurewa, most crap driving is done by fully laden bunga-buses, poly-trolleys, People Movers.

Most have unrestrained kids in the back for extra points.

I had one in front of me last night who must have nearly overshot the driveway he was looking for, so he just stopped in the middle of the road, then put his indicator on and just sat there. And then got really aggro at me when I beeped my horn.

I see a lot of terrible driving done in ratty old subarus also.

  7. Pick A Part was owned and run by a man called Ross Green, I used to work for him, when he died it was taken over by his wife, and daughter.

People always told me it was run by a gang, but we just made it feel like that :)

Trade me has had absolutely no effect on my particular wrecking yard, but that's because we are generally cheaper than the trade me prices, and we stock different stuff. The problem is some wreckers think they are sitting on a gold mine and they just want too much for stuff, and unfortunately some people are the same on trade me.

There should be room for everyone, I guess it depends on what stock you have tho?

Zebra u-pick rules. The best thing is the staff know in detail where you can find a certain make and model, and even have a fair idea of what parts are left on them. I was so impressed I didn't even try for a family discount!
