Hey Bizzo
Any updates on the engine swap or other progress?
I have decided I'm going to go down the 3RZ route in my 82 model. The truck needs a gear box replacement and re wire so why not an engine swap haha. I originally planned to drop in a 3RZ into my bagged 94 but I think the older model will be suitable as I plan to daily it.
Cheers

Its turning out to be a sweet lil truck, good stuff

What a decent outcome, man it traveled a fair way too

Cool, no updates on mine until next year perhaps. Just sitting in a barn waiting for some love

Has any one else followed this story that's popped up in the news recently? Skeletal remains found in two cars at the bottom of Oklahoma lake in the USA
I have found the discovery to be rather Intriguing. I was going to throw this in the Left to Rot thread but thought it deserved its own thread

Awesome! The truck looks good, and the 3rz should push it along nicely

Any updates?

Not really. The whole thing is still a hilux - all the way to the firewall, floor, complete suspension etc - the chassis hasn't been modified. He's kept the standard dash, which means it keeps all the functionality of a 2007 car with the sweet looks of a 40's/50's truck. It even uses the door catches from the Hilux to pass cart regulations.
Could you repost the photos from the previous page? For some reason they wouldnt load

This 620 has been sitting for 10 years or more, growing more moss as the days go by

Wow, stoked to see you scored a new bed for your truck, is that from API?

Recently picked up a gen Toyota windscreen rubber
I rang the local Toyota dealership for the hell of it to see what they were worth, or let along even stock one. And they happened to have one but wanted $400 for it, flag that I said, but they offered it to me for $200 plus gst.
Still not content with that I took to ebay USA and found one, a genuine item and manged to get it and landed for $95NZ.....sweet!

I'm 6'1'' so there is not a hell of a lot of room, but driving on the other side is fun and the bench that resides inside now is pretty comfy
-
Yeah I noticed that too
Here is Bistros to compare
But then this one of trademe looks to be the same size cab as mine
-
Good to see it getting closer to being legal
When does work on the wellside start?
-
Interesting, thanks for sharing that info Bistro.
When you compare the photo of my truck and the blue one, its obvious that the blue truck is the short bed version.
I thought the difference just came down to the truck itself being the USA market model and the new wellside possibly being a NZ new model?
But 90mm sounds about right that will need to be sectioned

Made some small progress on this little truck
Brought some tidy one piece glass doors
Also the deal with the last tailgate that I had lined up fell through. But fortunately I found a brand new reproduction early model tailgate with the old style lettering, sweet!
I brought it off estate_ (Thanks Grant) who I belive brought it from seedy Al
I had to move it from where its been sitting for the last 6months to a new location. Took it for a spin round some back roads which was fun. Looking forward to getting this thing on the road
Had to tow it to travel through town, Toyota towing a Toyota

Thanks mate, I just nailed a vtnz wof today!
Although I did see you are looking for a bonnet? I have 2, both white w/out major rust (one is blue on engine side), I have to figure out which one I'm keeping but could sell the other soon if you are still looking. You got a build in progress?
Good stuff.
Yes I'm trying to track down a decent bonnet. The whole front of the frame has rusted out on mine. I'm interested to see what you have to offer, photos would be a good start if possible? Cheers
Here is my 82 pickup (USA model)

Good progress, any photos of the other rust repairs? Would like to see those
What are you doing with the tailgate and latches out of interest?
Cheers

Good work Clint, I like your progress so far!

Hi guys
I need to look into a new windscreen rubber/gasket for my 82 Toyota pickup
I found this one on ebay that I'm considering, do you think it would be a good buy?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/79-80-81-82-83- ... 41&vxp=mtr
Also I paid a visit to a local glass shop and they said they could make one to fit, which would be a better fit, custom? Or OEM?
Thanks
James
