  1. The RX8 wasnt a flop, you have to remember it outlasted its competition (like the 350z which was upgraded to the 370z while the rx8 remained unchanged). mazda loosing the rotary engine would be like chevy/ford stopping production of V8s

  2. kinda with keltik in saying that they should come up with a sweet piston engine or two ( i mean they have nothing like a 1uz/ jz/ rb engine)... however they use the rotary engine for a more high performance sports car arrangement/ do a limited run of old rotary engine parts for me and everyone else.

  3. now i know nothing. howeverwould it be possible to have a detachable hose go from caravan to wagon like hydraulic lines on a tractor, or the air lines trucks run to their trailers? that way you can have a switch in th ecar to activate bags on caravan... whats the normal driving height between the caravan and the crown (assuming its going behind the crown)

EDIT: cos you could just leave the draw bar as is if the heigh isnt going to be much different beween the crown when its normal and the caravan is laying frame... or have something like this http://trojan.co.nz/index.asp?pageID=2145834374 part number 75120 or 75125 which could split the difference. i need a diagram

  4. I knew turbosmart were doing centre plates. theyre like 10kish i think??? and before anyone pipes up about chroming the inside of the housings yea that would be the tricky part.... so on a side note, instead of chroming them, what about coating them with teflon? i mean its good enough for frypans and moving bridges with a bit of oil applied...

  5. you dont need a licence to build pistons for any other engine so why would there be?

With rotors and housings etc i think there is little need for an aftermarket supplier. OEM is as good as that stuff gets i reckon.

the problem with that bit is that mazda dont make components for any of the rotary enignes pre the batty engines (possibly dont even make bits for them now?) hence why i ask... there is a market for components, so it is theoretically viable to start producing them, for example people in aus are now paying upwards of 2k for a pair of NOS rotor housings.

  6. Is the ECU electronically restricting the throttle? No idea if this is even possible in older engines but newer engines with the fly by wire shit are sometimes electronically restricted between different vehicle models ( 317kw HSV clubsport vs 325kw HSV Clubsport GTS is an example that comes to mind)

  7. also check the perpendicular bits of the chassi rails the are under where the drivers/passengers feet are ( if the car has them) I was to busy checking if the main rails when buying my rx7 were straight front to back and what not and missed these lil ones. In the past someones put a jack under then to change a tyre or whatever and crushed them flat/twisted them and on the left hand side its twisted the mounts for the bottom of the fender, guna have to go on a jig and cost $500+ to fix.

    Joy.

  8. yea having two engines is a good idea. how can an R130 share the apex seals of a 10a when the engines in an R130 are a 13A? wouldnt the apex seals be too short. think youd have to be brave to drive a FWD rotary in general, there was one on ebay in aus recently for 12k AUD in need of full restoration iirc.

have you managed to find some NOS pieces for your cosmo? cant imagine finding wrecked ones would be easy seeing as they only made like 1500
