Not sure about the fuel pump, but for batts, I just buy a decent juicey new one. Those starter motors on the older cars need a bit of umph to get them going.
You say the fuel light is on, is the needle down low too I take it?
Not a tanker sender issue?
Edit: is that car the one in your sig? if it is, keep it and get crackin'! no idea what sort of car it is, but it looks mean
Best tip I was given when I started playing with old cars is this; Make a list of stuff that needs to be done, and break it down to the smallest component. Even if it's just something like "Polish dail surrounds" etc. That way even if you're busy or having a crap day you can do it and feel like you've achieved something.
Feeling like it's going nowhere is what makes most people give up.

A far better option that those silica bags are those wardrobe dehumidifier things from Bunnings etc. They are basically just a massive silica bag, it has far more capacity to absorb water
http://www.mitre10.co.nz/how_to_guides/ ... umidifier/
This is the stuff ^^ Needs replacing every 4 - 6 weeks in a wardrobe
1 in the back 1 in the front and maybe even 1 in the boot - being in summer you shouldn't have too much of a problem with moisture build up TBH...
Sweet as! Will be sure to get some of those come next winter for whatever car I shall have

Keep her and follow some of the great tips given before
Re the pumps, I'm far from an expert but in the British scene it's normally just cheaper to buy a new electric pump rather then trying to get a mechanical one repaired/serviced.

i think there is one here in rotorua, at a workshop run by a guy called cecil, has been there for years though
Well if it's a landcrab I'd be keen

Buy CarJam report to find out:
* Full New Zealand ownership history
* Find out more about a company that owns a vehicle.
* Please note that names of individuals are not available as of May 2011 privacy law changes.
"New Zealand Ownership History. Number of owners. Individual or company ownership. Owner's location. Please note that names and addresses of individuals are not available as of May 2011 privacy law changes."
Not that forking out $11 is gonna bust the bank lol, just seems pointless if it's not gonna tell me what I want to know!

Hey guys, what's the best way to track down a car you used to own?
cheers _b

Wire it through the reverse light switch then.. LOL
lol
Will be one expensive cock up if you forget though!

Nice work mate, be careful if you're gonna play with the OD, as it'll be destroyed if you use it in reverse, hence why it has the inhibitor to make sure it turns off in the lower gears too. But you know what you're doing I'm sure.
My old MG BGT had the OD on 3rd and 4th, switch was on the dash which I quite liked

So basicly any car with an after market exhaust muffler is now illegal & can be ticketed $150
Best part about my Triumph, got off road pipes on it, as did my old scrambler, the noise would wake the dead, people would hear me from 10mins away lol
.....Cops don't care about motorcycles for noise, they got boy racers to pick on

Why do the police have this idea in their head that they get to make up the law....
Doing the same with us firearm owners at the moment.
So what about motorcycle owners? most sports bikes have fully adjustable suspension?

Thanks a lot mate

Hey there guys, trying to get my hands on "Castrol TQF" automatic transmission fluid.
Anyone know where I could grab some?
Need it for a Borg-Warner 35 transmission.
Supercheap and Recpo said they didn't stock it, nor could they get it in
Cheers _b

Welding help/teaching - Auckland
in Tech Talk
Posted
Hey there guys,
Should have a new car soon/down the line and one thing I've always wanted to do is learn how to weld.
Would be great to learn to take care of some/basic rust issues myself, not only for my wallet, but for the experience.
So does anyone have a welder and time to teach?
Do you run workshop nights etc also?
Cheers!
