I'm currently using the old girl as my daily seeing as both my jap cars & my swedish car are broken! It purred to the Hanmer meet with no issues at all & returned a respectable 30mpg. But I want better. Soo in the quest for better fuel economy I got this:
Hopefully overdrive will give me a few extra mpg.
In other news I fitted up my 15x9s with some 195-50-15s.
Two days later I was pulled over by the local constabulary informing me that they "are not allowed" and telling me about all the inherent dangers of my wheel & tyre combination. Thankfully he was a nice guy about it & told me to go home and take them off.

Yes most definitely. If i could afford it I'd be down there.

Nice, This reminds me I have a 70s XL250 in the shed. I really must dig it out.

Will we be/Is anyone interested in doing a stand at the south Island 4s and rotors this year? I see that entries are now open.

Bungee jump at hammer somewhere? We should put KK on it.

Oh hai. Its been a while. With motivation levels abnormally high, I pulled the datsun out of the shed & set at the task of getting it legal.
First on the to do list was put it all back together & give it a wash with Jiff... Jiff removes all that pesky over spray & heavy oxidization from paint. Cheers Jiff.
Next paint up the shitty old widened steels in red and give the rusty hubcaps a good polish. All of which resulted in this:
Looks pretty sharp if I do say so myself. Then today I ran it through for a wof check expecting the worst. This is what happened:
Pretty stoked so I have the replacement light & hose clamp but I have to wait until tomorrow for the Tie rod end ex Auckland. No weekend cruising for me.
Also I may have found a wellside deck. Checking that out this weekend.

I'm tempted to bring my 68 Raleigh Chopper but I don't want it to get wrecked due to drunkness/moisture.

Take the triumph and give hannah your Chevette.

Haha I'll probably go against all logic and bring the Triumph.

Ouch with a dot4 hangover^^ I'm quite looking forward to this. Weighing up what car to bring.

Legally you'd be looking at like a 235-245. You could stretch whatever you want on but be prepared for a green sticker as the police are pretty sharp on tyre sizing/stretch. I had 165-65-13s on my 13x7.5 wide steels (still illegal but they weren't super stretched.)
-
I could check it tomorrow depending on where it is.
-
Drive to chch and pick us up.
If I was less poor / lazy I'd do it.
Also
Have just put funds through for dinner.
-
I imagine most/all are going into Chch but I was just seeing. Vacant seats.
-
Are the people that still need rides flying into Chch or Nelson? bigfoot, corbie, beachlander etc...

I bought that off the original owner back in 2006 for $1200 It was absolutely immaculate & Automatic!! I converted it to manual and drove it to school every day. Its nice to see that its still well looked after. I always dreaded it getting wrecked by some idiots.

I've $1 reserved loads of cars and its only turned to shit once. As already stated just list as much info as possible, lots of pics, list any issues you know of, and always put "as is where is." To avoid ownership changing woes I always put "Car will not be handed over until the ownership has been changed" and I either get them to email me the receipt (if they are having the car shipped) or I personally go to the post office with them & watch them do it.
And be prepared for lots of low ball cash offers.

What he said ^^ I had a Mitsi Legnum and it had the noisiest lifters in the world. I did 2x oil changes using that cheap GV oil from repco. Then I used some half decent mobil 15-40, a filter & some MBL8 and hey presto quiet lifters.

I acquired another door to replace my dented one. Swapped my door card & wood trim over. Another day in paradise
I sprayed the inside with some cavity wax & gave the door shuts a good clean. Hanging it was a bit of a pain. Still needs some fine tuning.
The white stuff is spider webs. Stinky Diesel C32 Laurel in the background.

Oldschool.co.nz stand at 4s and Rotors - Nelson
in South Island Region
Posted
I'd like to see Oldschool represented in its South Island form. Surely we could throw something together. I can contribute 2x of my Average cars.
