Bugger I was looking forward to a Dot4!
EDIT:
Now that you mention it's a 1.1 Auto with Vinyl roof I'm in! But seriously, I'm in provided I can still get a ride back with Slacker_Sam on Sunday?
Yes this will be fine.

Hey guys I've imported cars from Japan before using www.tau-trade.com. I've found them to be very good & easy to deal with but they only have a very limited selection and pretty much nothing 20 years old or over.
I've tried using tradecarview.com but It seems impossibly hard to use / Slightly dodgy. But they do have an awesome selection from different sources.
What other places are out there that you guys have dealt with?

New Wof on the Torino, heater working good. Just have to get the red wall flappers fitted this week & will be away. I was hoping to meet Alex & Hannah in Wakefield like last time & cruise to Nelson lakes.....I'll also need to Stop for gas in Murch.

Who knows. The repairs look pretty ancient. But yes the bonus is Ive found absolutely no rust. Hopefully I can get it looking OK again. I see lots of sanding in my future.

So Today We had these turn up:
Pretty cool old Sanyo speakers. Scored them on trademe for $22. I'm planning to fit modern speakers inside for a nicer sound.
Also I started picking at the dodgy looking repair on the passenger side. I wish I hadn't as it was like opening pandoras box!
So what do I do? I keep picking. And bust out the grinder with flapper disk.
Ooops. Mrs Slacker_Sam will not be happy! It looks like they have just bogged over all the dents. Must've been done a long time ago.
But fark this has become more work than I thought.

So its looking like I'm not going to be able to come. 1x Sick child + School night for the other = Not allowed to go out. Bit gutted but thats life.

Hoo-rah. Slacker_Sam reporting for OS duty.
I might be able to escape from Child watching duty for an hour or so. I probably should attend.
Edit: I'm quite keen to talk about cats also.

Hey Everyone, Some of you guys & girls met my partner, Jane at Nats 2014. I thought It was about time that she got her own oldschool car. So this weekend we purchased this little NZ new 2 door KP60.
It has been a local car since near new and has been in the same family for 30 years. It wasn't for sale but I kept asking the owner casually if he wanted to sell it (over a 4 year period.) Last week he finally caved and agreed to sell it to me under the condition that I look after it and don't sell it on. I parted with $1500 of my hard earned dollars & it was mine/Jane's. He was very sad to see it go.
Its very clean & tidy, especially on the inside. But sadly the paint has suffered from the harsh Motueka sun and is cracked and buggered over the whole car. There is also a rather iffy 80s repair job on the left rear quarter panel.
It has the screaming 2K power plant & 4 Speed K40 box. All original & has been maintained beautifully.
I decided to chuck my 14x6.5 Techno Phantoms on as the 12" factory wheels just didn't cut the mustard. It doesn't look half bad. They might be a touch too big though.
More pics to come.

On the main drag just before mcd's. Usually has an old Caddy and an El Camino outside.

What's a torino? Edit.. a big Ford? Yours?
Yes big 'merican Ford. Father in laws, he kindly donated it for the weekend.
Its off to Ian Griffiths. Hes about as oldschool as it comes. His workshop looks like something out of the 60's - cars included. So I'm fairly confident it will pass.

Torino is going in for a Wof Friday. Hopefully they wont notice the newly installed (non standard) vacuum assisted brakes.....I also need warm clothes and beer....lots of beer.

Anyone from the Nelson side need a ride? I have 2 free seats.
-
Cruise into the badlands sounds pretty sweet.

Yeah. Next port of call is check power feed at the renix unit. If there is power I'll check the crank angle sensor for corrosion on the pick up. I don't think its got a cam angle sensor. Hopefully its just a corroded connection from sitting in the garden for a year.
-
I just passed a wof today & on my way back from the wof place my old volvo coughed a couple of times and died.
Its got the B200 MPFI motor. I have checked all the fuses & the fuel pump is working. There is no spark at the plugs or directly from the coil. It runs an optical sensor from the flywheel directly to the Renix ignition module/coil unit.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

He won't part with it I'd say. He might "need it"

Probably. It's even automatic!

I didn't really look too hard sorry man. The guy is one of those "ill fix it one day" kinda folk. It took lots of persuading to get any bits off that celica. He still refuses to sell me the whole thing.
-
Literally in a swamp. I went there 3 years ago and the celica was on hard ground with a creek about 50 metres away & it was complete. Now it's just a huge rotting bog.
-
Took this lot today. Here's me looking very chuffed at finding a window trim that I was missing. This Celica was very sad.
Mk2 Escort Ghia:
Ford Prefect/Popular thing:
Mk1 Escort 2 door & an old Wolsely.
2x 80's Mitsi Sigmas
There was more but most of it was Modern stuff.

Getting pretty excited. Need to help finish installing the vacuum assisted brake servo in the Torino / Save up gas money!
-
Could be interested. So put me down on the register.
-
I was just trawling through craigslist & other 'merican car auctions, seeing lots of stuff I liked & lots of prices I liked. But basically I had no idea where to start. I've imported a few cars from Japan in the past but nothing from the states.
