  1. Another +1 for the green bonnet to be refitted. Also I personally do not like more camber on rear than front.

But yeah, am amazed at the condition! Awesome!

Did you spot the cheap one on TM in mot late last year? I was tempted to look at it but decided I'd best not as I have no room/time/money for another car.

    I do loves trumpets

I'm going to do as "K-trips" said, swap the bonnets to suit the occasion. Im heading to nelson car show in Febuary so ill be running the mint green bonnet in that. And are we talking about the white one with red interior for $950? if so that was mine, I was selling it. I payed $400 for it, used it as a runner for a while whilst fixing my celica, then sold it. I thought $950 was about right, it ran well, and was pretty tidy but was nothing special. I see people asking stupid money on TM for 2000's or 2500 TC's when they're not really worth it. Only the PI's or the S's are worth the real coin.

As for the green one, I didn't actually want it but the price was far to good to pass on. There was a 1977 Reg on hold Manual O/D 2.5 TC for sale in nelson for $350, paint was shot, and a wee bit of rust. very fixable still. I didnt have the room for it though. The bloke might still have it.

  2. I've kept the original bonnet. I would never sand down such a mint bonnet! I wasnt going to put the rusty one on but, in the heat of the moment i thought I would chuck it on just for a look. And Fuel it still is immaculate, I could quite easily put it back to standard in a matter of hours. as for appeal, it all depends on who your appealing to.

  3. So I finally got around to doing some stuff to this triumph.... looks pretty boss now i rekon.

    BEFORE:

    AFTER:

    DSCF4108.jpg

    DSCF4109.jpg

    So i've added:

*rims off my Celica XX, 14x7" Sharak X-1's

    *lowered springs

    *Rusty bonnet

*1974 PI Grille (factory black & chrome)

Never fear though I've kept the standard springs, chrome grille, mint bonnet & standard wheels so I can put it back to factory if need be :D

    Abuse me here : viewtopic.php?f=18&t=30261

  4. Chris Webby is the hotrod builder in Motueka who Evobilly was talking about. Ive seen some of the wheels hes done and i must say he does an amazing job.... better than Elite in chch... And at $60-70 per wheel and a 5 day turnaround hes cheaper & faster. He knows all the rules and regulations around widening steelies. I'll be getting some done when funds allow.

  5. So Picked this up today. Has been in a private collection for a number of years. 1 previous owner. British racing green, bone interior. Sadly its only a 2.0 Auto, but I have a complete 2.5 motor and full manual overdrive conversion....

    Short term plans are

    *Low

    *JDM style Mags

*sounds (its never had a stereo)

    *do a skid

  6. Ok so had afew issues over the past week but nothing major, Fan belt came off in Richmond, then the exhaust flange gasket gave up so it sounded like a tractor, and then the alternator started playing up. Still its all part of owning a British car. Got a new belt, fixed the alternator but the flange gasket was a pig of a thing. First all the brass nuts were threaded, so I found some new bolts and tried to put them on. Turned out the thread was buggered on the studs about half way along. So to remedy the situation i found some big nuts and used them to space out the studs. Worked a bloody treat.

  7. Rite so I really need to get my ass into gear. I need this finished by the 13th so i can drive it to Dunedin. Today I focused on putting the motor back together, had to make up some paper gaskets for the fuel pump, water pump, and thermostat housing. Need to go to Repco tomorrow and buy a load of hose clamps, 2x Airfilters, oil filter and some oil. Then it will be ready to throw in.

  8. Hi all. Pretty sure you guys all know this car well. Met up with Hunted im Blenheim yesterday, Top bloke! had a chat, swapped keys and a some green stuff and we were away, hes now got my Triumph 2500 S. Anyway Im stoked with the Avenger, drove it back to Motueka with a engine in the boot, 4 wheels inside and a box of spares. After afew epic over-taking fails and hairy moments on the whangamoas we made it home.

Have no real plans for the Avenger as yet, just going to tidy up afew bits and use it as my daily at the moment. I will be looking into lowering it a little more though maybe.

heres afew pics, just showing some bits ill be fixing up.

  10. hi all, ive been slack and havnt posted in a while, the triumph is still in the shed in pieces, meanwhile i got this little beast to fang around in for $550 reg and a new VTNZ wof (its the only car ive ever had with a vtnz wof!!). Its a little 1200 4speed, my god is it ecco. anyway on with the pics.

    DSCF3767.jpg

    shes a bit ruff...

    DSCF3768.jpg

Then I decided it needed lowering, 2 inch blocks in the back and "makita one ways" in the front.

    DSCF3793.jpg

with chrome lips on black rims.

It still isnt quite there, needs more DISH. so i got creative in photoshop :D

    GREYLANCER.jpg

it looked ok but still not quite what rite, so i had another go and came up with this....

    lancerflares.jpg

i rekon that looks sweet, so need to get me some flares and superlites, cheers 4 looking.

  11. I got the old girl back when i was 15 then sold it when i was 17 for $950 2 sum hippys. 4 years later i spotted it down at my local scrap metal dealer. After shit loads of phone calls i finally persuaded the bloke 2 sell it to me for $220. it was in a pretty sad state, ignition barrel was smashed off, interior was filthy and full of junk.....

Its still a work in progress, im going for the boso look, with 13x9" widened steelies with stretched tyres (yes i know its not entirely legal but i dont care lol) , chin spoiler, lowered, custom interior with fishnet Recaros, original faded paintwork, boso upswept exhaust, mirrors half way down the guards, and a nice sound system.

Ive already done the motor, its got a rebuilt 2.5, with 1 3/4 S.U carbs, planed head, and a P.I grind cam. (more lift than a std TC or S cam) just need a manual overdrive gearbox to finish it off really because it runs out of revs at 100mph lol.

When i picked it up from the scrap metal place and drove it home lol

    pickup.jpg

last week just before i started stripping it, i chucked some old tridents on to see how it looked.

    DSC04925.jpg

    DSC04924.jpg
