  1. '86.5 - '90 GA70s w/the 1G-GE have a 4.56, clutch-pack or Torsen LSD 7.5" differential, NOT compatible with any of the other A70 diff setups. All 1G-GTE equipped GA70s have a 4.56, clutch-pack or Torsen LSD differential. '86.5-'92 MA70 N/A MKIIIs without Sport Package have a 4.30, open differential. '86.5-'92 MA70 N/A MKIIIs with Sport Package (TEMS & headlight washers on '86.5 - '88 : TEMS & PPS on '89-'92) have a 4.30, clutch-pack LSD differential. '87 - '88 MA70 turbo MKIIIs have a 3.91 clutch-pack LSD differential. '89+ MA70 turbo MKIIIs have a 3.73 clutch-pack LSD differential. '90 - '92 JZA70 Limited and R MKIIIs manual trans cars have a 4.10 Torsen LSD differential and auto trans cars have a 3.91 Torsen LSD differential. not sure on variation between auto and manuals... Would guess ma70 7M auto to be that tallest auto ratio
  2. Yeah, but means I can go for the tallest ratio diff without sacrificing acceleration. If any supra diff is very high ratioed LOL Will check that.
  3. OHK cheers for that Yeah, i am going for an NA six 200hp hopefully, same power as Beams 3SGE So the auto in a 1G-FE doesn't fit the 3S-GE then either?
  4. Does the 6 Speed altezza box fit onto other Toyota motors such as 1 1JZ? Would a w55 belhousing fit onto it??
  5. I managed 35mpg in my 7M-GE on the Auckland to Hamilton motorway...Couldn't complain at that!!! But was a very painful trip...95-100ks the whole way.... What are the early 90s NA 1JZs like? What would be the easiest install electronically? I was a 1G-GTE but is a widebody aerotop (ga70h)...that why I am going to go to some effort for it as it is my fav jap car LOL 1uz would be way more thirsty than a 1jz right?? as the 1JZs head is way more advanced and has good flow. Though 1UZ has a fe head which where designed for economy...though in the v8s cause to save room I am guessing.... Imagine...1UZ with Beams style heads.... DROOL
  6. Yeah, I am keen on a 1JZ-GE even a vvti if i can find/afford one. What is a 2JZ-FSe? Obviously F for the narrow angle valves...what do they come in?
  7. Yeah...but a four in a supra? Might be crucified for that LOL
  8. 3sge beams? 1G-Fe? 7m-ge? 1jz-ge? 1G-GEU/GE or other??
  9. For those interested in atlas diffs http://passionford.com/forum/restoratio ... oject.html
  10. Ok good to know the guy in Hamilton who shorten diffs is as bellow http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Profil ... er=1621426
  11. Cheers, You've been I mega time saver Valiant Will check how he shortens them, is cut an wielding bad? I will still be under 200hp so will it matter? How do they do it normally? I know other people that do it cheap as my cousin is an engineer...I might get a quote from him to shorten a diff Also Bruce Greer near Waihi (in waikino) is meant to be very good, and that is closer the Hamilton.
  12. OHK, Thats a bugger...could have just got my rims slotted
  13. Is the VL gear interchangeable a XA falcon Diff?
  14. Quite keen on doing my falcon diff now, with the availability of different ratios and LSD heads easily!!
  15. Yeah looks good thanks Gaz, will get quote on postage, and see if the ratio can be found out.
  16. Is the VL gear interchangeable with XA falcon stuff? I have a 2.92 XA falcon diff sitting in my shed. Would a XF LSD head go into the XA housing? I am a bit ignorant on Borg warner obviously..
  17. Ahh, you are a legend!!! I have been looking for that info for ages! Yeah, I am not too worried about LSD, just want a strong good ratio diff. My escort is not my every day driver, and when it gets driven, it get driven hard!!...I have two engines, I think my current one is in need to a rebuild... It will be my everyday driver once it is finished, and so I still want to be able to drop in my worked pinto and enter a drag comp and take it to track days etc. I used to run a shortened Zypher diff in a 3.8 Buick V6 morry, and that has an awesome ratio...with I knew where that ended up!! It was non lsd of course and I never had a problem... always spun both wheels
  18. Ok, yeah, I have read that thread and decided to get a Cortina diff shortened as it is stronger than an escort diff and is still 4x108...and was stoked to see they come out with 3.4:1. I can get diff shortened properly for $400 in Hamilton. Ends up cheaper than buying a baby atlas or similar to fit and escort.
  19. I have read "TF diff ratios on the sixes may be the same, but it's not the same diff. Ford down graded to the same diff as the Corona, Sigma unit. The fours ran 3.42:1 ratios. Pre TF's back to post October 1972 ran the lovely 25 spline BW 7 7/8 th diff, but often the crown wheel was 7 5/8ths. It was only some ratios which were the full 7 7/8 ths (200 mm)" And I have also read "Watch out also because some earlier Cortinas came fitted with a back hat diff too but it was much smaller/weaker." I read this and am wanting to know how you can tell the crappy weak diff from the strong one?
  20. Is the 2.3 V6 cortina guaranteed to have the strong diff? If you have any clues about Cortina diffs can you please comment
  21. Ok, cheers for the heads up, I have never seen the underside of a Cortina, how can you tell the difference between the Cortina diffs?
  22. What ratios do mk3-5 cortinas come out with???
