Bingo with the worn cover...well actually part of the block, have to have a hole filled in and a new camcahin is on its way for $200 including tensioners and seals etc....want to hart to get the old on off either
-
I know there is a lot of hate for these engines on this forum, but I love them, that is why l I have just purchased my second Sierra which has a carbed 8V DOHC, but it is leaking a lot of
oil from the front somewhere, the car is stuck 5 hours away at my
parents house, what is the most likely culprit...the crank seal or the
oil pump or??? -
What is the best set up for a crank trigger? Also, is there any benefit from running a wasted spark set up?/How much harder will it be to get it running a normal firing set up, I dont mind running 6 coils as I was planning on coil-on-plug set up if I can.
-
I am thinking of trying the cam angle sensor from an AU on my non crossflow, as they seem to be able to dropinto my dizzy hole without much modding.
-
Ok, think it it time to get a spare motor and start playing
-
OK. I am only running my 250 2v 6. How to I put a cam position sensor on my old motor? and what's is the best way to get RPM signal from the crank?

I want to know what controls the timing on this thing http://members.iinet.net.au/~mikejh/XP.html and thid thing http://members.iinet.net.au/~mikejh/502XC.html

I already have a full SVI system from a dual fuel BA. I want to use it in my Coupe just to be different, but it will have better power and economy that and carb LPG set up like my E-gad BA has:/ I might have to hunt for some instaltion instuctions for my kit. But can anyone answer my intial question?
-
thegreatestben, do you run an O2 sensor etc to get the LPG kit to run?
-
Ohh that would be a bonus, I was contemplating doing efi as well...to dual fuel it, though I may just have it suck air through the carb I mice big throtle body would be pretty nice, get a bit more of a roar out of it.
-
Heres a pic of the controller
-
Anyone? basicly, how can I make a link, motec, megasuirt run on my 250 2v (1972) motor?
-
My goal is to run a SVI LPG system on my 250 2v, but I need an ecu for the ecu that came with the LPG kits to get the spark pulses from so it known when to squirt the gas in.
So how do I get this sorted? Do I need to get a crank trigger sensor or something, I have already for an electronic dizzy, can I marry the two together?
Any ideas/help will be awesome.

Sounds like it is coming from the throttlebdy mixer...sounds like it is coming from the speedo when I floor it, car still goes well. Just cut out my cat converter as it self destructed and was rattling around.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t_2xzpUwlE&feature=youtu.be

Just a bought another LD28 as a spare and it came with a fivespeed and all the bits and bobs needed, Now have 2 SD23s and five speeds up for grabs, will give them a de grease and get some pics up ASAP.
-
Will have to have a look when I get back to the olds (my storage shed ) Do you have idea about the flywheel?
-
Hi all, I have bought a LD28 to upgrade from the SD23 in a bedford.
The van already has a 5 speed from the sd23, can I use this box and flywheel on the LD28?

My Nikki carb looks like this, Its a two barrel, http://www.northwest4x4.co.uk/forum/userpix/46_6e14_1_1.jpg

I have a twin throat Nikki carb and manifold to suit, 50 times better than the webber IMO. PM me if you are interested.
-
wow I really would not want to ever have put a spanner to that car above, nothing fits even the horn is mounted on top of the engine!
haha I agree, though with all piping removed it wouldnt be toooo bad, the morris chassis I have, had a capri v4 in it, wouldnt mind one of those engines again...for the austin, but I already have the buick V6
-
I was actually start to think about putting it on a Suzuki carry chassis, or diahatsu or anything close to those, get new suspension, but I know suzukis have struts in the front so may have to have external strut towers
Equation is Best possible all-rounder for as little $ as possible, my falcon coupe swallows all my spare cash, plus Im saving for my wedding
-
That would be awesome, I was thinking of doing it as a rat rod for burnout comps, drag strip etc, maybe if I get some wit the right qualifications to do the wielding, get it legal oneday.
-
Ok, I have found an Austin Ruby, with no guards.
I also happen to have a buick V6 (older gen), some rx3 disk brakes on my morris minor van chassis, a shortened zephyr diff and and auto box behind the V6. And some 44 gallon drums to make guards, I ahve some old radiators that would go in the boot, some 14x6 and 14x8 rims also on the chassis.
and then I spotted this >
what is the best option for a chassis you think? Narrow my morris one down and use factory morris suspension?
Any knowldge if the turbo and non turbo buick motors have interchangeable manifolds?
Any ideas are welcome...I never plan on having it legal, though that would be SOOO much fun.

or if anyone want a car bought from Napier up to Auckland Tauranga Hamilton, ill hire a van and trailer and we can split the cost!
