  1. Discussion Thread here - //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/39149-slugs-strip-beetle/ Ive been lurking around here for a bit, thought I would share my project. I was running a 55 beetle down at the strip for a few years, after about 4 engine/gearbox combos I ran a best of 12.43@107mph. Anyway the last engine had a major meltdown due to some oiling/lack of maintenance/caring issues by me. So I decide its time to step up and go faster and start sourcing some bits to build a 4" bore turbo engine. Start looking at the car and there is a crap load of work to do to get it to handle the HP levels I am thinking, so I fall over this : out of the UK and buy it. It has a cage, 10" narrowed coil over rear end, comes with 930 CVs and 830M axles. Then I get an offer from the guy who is collecting parts for me out of the US that is to good to refuse and buy this : Which after 9 months now looks like this : Im still waiting on gearbox R and P so no real hurry. I picked up an Autronic ECU off Tardme, its dry sumped so have a peterson tank and priming remote oil filter holder. Twin setrab oil coolers. It will be running a custom porsche fan cooling set up. Have made some seat adjustments so I fit in the funny car cage, working on pedal placement. Engine specs are 84 x 101.6, pauter case, roller cam set up, moldex crank, venolia pistons, angle flow heads, CT comp oilless turbo, turbosmart valves and eboost, twin plate mcleod clutch. Still a long way to go, but the goal is 9 second 1/4s and street legal.
  2. Any ideas on this.... I just bought in a car from the UK. It was my intention to attempt to get it road legal. Anyway at the shippers the IVS guy comes and looks at the car and couldn't find a VIN, It is stamped under the tinware in the rear of it but they didnt have the tool to remove the panel. So I picked it up because I didn't want it left at the shippers. My question is, having been never registered here can I take it to a VTNZ and get the process started. I have all the paperwork from the UK sale receipt, UK MOT etc. Even have he UK number plate. It is heavily modified, so if the above won't work, could I push it through as a scratch built ?
