  1. you are the true master of crownin ! man prob the best car build I've seen in NZ!!
  2. all wof'd and rego'd now , so of course time to lower it. Ended up with cut springs in the front but not for long have ordered proper springs ,and I want to go a little lower in the front, as for the rear found some random cobra springs under the house, know idea what car they are from, they looked like they'd fit and they do mint! it's settled a bit since these pics and is pretty slammed in the back now. so next is sort white walls, and decide on wheels, I've started getting bits in pieces for the hidden stereo install too . I really need to get some better pics of this .something other than my driveway haha
  3. Finally update time ! got the car back yesterday , really happy with how it turned out , colour matched really well! hopefully all wof'd and reg'd next weekend , then ill be lowering it asap! you may have seen the photoshop 63ragtop did of my crown but i'll put it here anyway haha plan is to run something like this wheel wise, i quite like the red but undecided on colour yet .Would anyone have contact's for steelies like these? next update will be slamming time.
  4. grind-ed it back today and it grew abit haha, leaning towards getting this done by a good panel shop now , I actually want to keep this car so really want it done properly . Can anyone recommend a good shop in the oldschool community ? I know it could be pretty pricey but i think it will be worth it .
  5. yea dude, I missed that post all together on jzx nz , found it after I had already put a deposit on it haha, I saw thomas at that performance car meet at meremere he mentioned the crown to me there.
  6. yea ryan thats the one, Matt other side looks to be alot better , fairly sure it wont be too bad to fix just time consuming , i'd just rather be driving it right now haha but thats how oldschool goes though aye.
  7. OK shit just got real! real rusty! 100mmx150mm was very wishful thinking hacked into it and it was alot worse! turns out the area that was in primer due to " being backed into" wasn't quiet true . looks like its had bad rust thats just been bogged over! so a lot more work than I thought , going to try cut it all out and patch it next weekend, I've got a mate that's a qualified welder that can do all the cutting, patch making ,welding , I've got access to a mig but does anyone know if there is anywhere you can go to hire the gas needed? hopefully I can get it all patched next weekend fingers crossed
  8. Don't think so mate , the last owner before me had it since 78, just happened to get told about it going for sale from a mate and jumped on it
  9. Thats dam nice seedy!! cheers for the heads up on the lowering! may be a little while before I throw money at this , got a wedding to pay for this year!

  11. So took it for its first WOF today , told them to be hard on it haha , it only failed on a couple of things!! dam photo won't rotate don't know why so number plate bulb , done Right/rear brake and hand brake, sorted Rust hole , not sorted! the hole itself is about the size of a 50cent coin ,but the area that needs cutting out is probably about 100 mm x 150 mm , good thing its only the spare wheel well , so not fussed how it looks. but heres the tricky part haha I don't own a welder nor have I ever welded anything!! Any Auckland based Oldschoolers keen to do a patch for me? please !! can buy you a box of your choice or cash? I'm pretty happy that this is all the car failed on! pretty good going !
  12. Haha yea dude its just the rubber on one side is worn through so it slides right over, I see what saying though.
  13. Wonder if this really is just an M series with glasspacks ? if so im shooting for a set up like this , sounds pretty sweet!
  14. cheers for the info sheepers , all sounds pretty sweet apart the drive shaft side of it really , may just try to fix this box up in the mean time, Looking for some seat belts for the back seats , Appco has the static ones for a pretty sweet price , just wondering if anyone has any lying around they'd want to sell?
  15. here's some more pics , excuse the crappy cell phone pics Yea no rev counter ! got a spare one sheepers? haha engine bay really needs some TLC , don't think its ever seen degreaser !
  16. Cheers guys yea was a good score! Pretty stoaked. Just took it for another good drive . Doesn't like changing down from 3rd to 2nd. Its crunching pretty nicely. Synchro's I guess . Its the original 2m box. Guess it'll be easy to swap to a w series ? Looking forward to doing this thing justice. Keeping my eyes out of wheels now. Anyone know of any ?
  17. Had a hard time keeping quiet about my new project but this is it! sold my gx61 yesterday and just picked this up today. Picture dump So its pretty tidy !! have got full service history , last owner had it since 1978 , has a rebuilt 4m in it with receipts, a few things to do straight away , there is a patch of primer behind passenger side rear wheel so will paint this to match, drivers seat needs repair , gearbox sounds like it has something rattling around in it, does anyone have a spare box ? this is a 4 speed , 5 speed would be cool but not to fussy yet haha, Plans are to lower this , figure out what i want to do wheel wise , am leaning towards a smoothie style wheel with white walls, exhaust and a hidden sound set up . any ideas what works suspension wise on these
  18. So, a bit of a sad update , I said goodbye to this yesterday , but it will make way for a new project ! and I'm pretty happy it has gone to a good home in Tauranga . So ill start the new project thread probably tomorrow when I pick up the new car! can't wait ! its older a little bigger and I think better haha
  19. bump trying to fix this today , wish me luck

  21. A few photos from the last JZXNZ meet, next thing is coilovers! want to go lower! just need shocks and threaded tube have everything else already. Anyone know a good place for threaded tubing? Just been driving it as much as possible, pretty stoaked with how it goes ! Keeping an eye out for an LSD too
  22. so yea pretty stoaked with it has exhaust done now sounds alright , just need to sort the tacho out and have discovered yesterday while on the motorway the engine check light happened to come on then off, pulled over straight away couldn't find anything wrong , kept driving came back on and off afew times but doesn't feel any different when the light is on, tends to come on while going up hill and turn off after , but did come on today while I wasn't going uphill so dont really know whats going on , only ever happens on the motorway , I am a bit worried as I don't want to damage this motor ! any Idea's on whats going on or what to check?
