  1. lol. dead under a tree is vague as fuck. It was probably poorly looked after, hence it was probably bought from a cheap-trade in shifting car shark on trademe.

bro's father in law tows heavy trailers everywhere and gives his one the beans. it's auto. he services it to the proper schedules and it's never given him any problems.

summary: they're good whips. all japanese diesels are these days. different models suit different uses/owners.

reasoning behind the 'bigarse trailer' is this vehicle ( and Prados/Surfs) got a bad rep down these parts, for heads mainly due to pulling big boats and caravans over the passes without a decent trans cooler.

seemed funny that the same engine in a manual NZ new ute, had none of the issues.

  2. first place it died randomly when driving followed by not even turning over, once i charged the battery the starter motor was turning over however even wouldn't fire. was told coils stuffed, replaced that same issue.

    extra earth on the head.

  3. never used him, but Ewan seems to be the go, if in the north island.

bought plenty of replacement engines of Daito Auto Parts in Temuka, and never had an issue that they weren't prepared to resolve (dicky injectors on a diesil). there prices are pretty sharp too.

  4. Haven't made up my mind yet.. I asked the guy a few questions & didn't get back to me.

Thinking of just upgrading shocks to a set of Bilstein tarmac (300/70) unsure whether to get Long or Short though. Also springs to suit.

get hold of chris alexander at suspensiontech. done plenty of mods for race and rally Escorts. Stech.co.nz ??

  5. By the sound of it, he's the only reason it is actually getting built anyway

    bollocks.

You trying to say Messers Begg, Dippie, Aitken didn't do anything towards it ?? dunno much about O'donnell, but the other 3 are no mugs. they got the land, the consent, and designed it all, Tony has come along, bought into it and fast-tracked it by 18 months.

whilst it is good to see the rapid progress since Tony's involvement, there will be bugger advantage for any of us unless we can wrangle our way into their "Club". One thing of mention though, there is now quite a strong Central Otago Car Club, that run many gravel sprints and auto-cross "type" events that may manage a track hire or 2

  6. companies and car manufacturers alike, and there were only 10-15 days allocated in the resource consent for proper racing activities

Seriously, you think one race meeting every month is too limited? That's actually quite busy compared to most tracks in NZ. For one, there aren't enough race drivers in the area to field decent grids every month and they'll also have to ship in a lot of manpower to do marshaling and crash rescue.

Markku, take into account, a lot of race events are 2-3 days, then you have not a lot of race meetings.
