Got lots of memories of Rotary cars. The memory of sitting in the back seat of an RX4 and racing a GT Corolla along Customhouse Quay in Wellington then seeing the Corolla brake suddenly as we fly thru a changing traffic light is a stand out for me. The noise that thing made thru the buildings was wicked.

Still doesnt go but have another sweet grill and did some suspension joints and bushes. Coil overs are out as low cars are cool but a right bitch to work on when they dont run. New rear screen rubber is on its way from japan and I got a couple sedan ones if any one is keen. Also getting some mirror bases made to allow for curvature of the guard. This will eliminate the mirror droop often seen with these.

Mine was around 10k. Car needed alot of work. I was very happy. My mate paid 17k for his cortina panel and paint. It's still a cortina but now with an average paint job. He was not happy

You checked the filter in the carb? Undo the the brass nut where the fuel line enters the carb. I had this same issue while fucking with a cortina recently.

if the gearbox fitted is from a 1600 mk3 cortina they have about a 8-10mm longer shaft on them compared to a mk2 cortina/escort one so I would put my money on it being that.
Sweet. I will drop the box and see what's going on.

Hi Oldschool.
I need advice from the Engine minded.
I have a Mk1 Cortina with a 1600 cross flow and what appears to be mk1/2 Cortina bell housing (Hydro slave cylinder attached) with 4 speed box.
Car starts and revs happily but driving I feel its under power, feels heavy. I removed spark plugs and tried turning it over by hand but its super tight, at point where its fucking hard.
Any ideas why this may be?
My thoughts are;
Centre shaft on gear box vs engine pressing hard against it (change of bell housing)
Engine has been sitting so maybe oil.
I wasnt present when gear box was fitted some years ago but will remove and replace thrust bearing which is "Squeaky"
Cheers bros

2 litre. Roads are pretty good here but will give some feed back over the next couple days. Tyres look wide as every one says they look like they need air. Tows a trailer fine, good turning circle. Fuel consumption says 8.2l per 100km but actual is around around 7.5l. Been a good car the past 2 years.
