  1. Thought it was about time for an update. I went missing from here long ago but i still think this place kicks some major ass. and a little video Ive done tons of stuff since last time, heres a build thread if you care to see all in detail http://www.losboulevardosmessageboard.com/showthread.php?1792-The-Italian-Job-01-04-2011-Back-On-The-Road! but the basic run down is: A ton of rust repair, and i mean a ton! Peaked fenders, flared arches and a few more body mods, plus loads of fab work for the air bags. Although these cars are way bigger than old euros standards the space under them is still very tight. Hope ya guys like it.
  2. Hi there, not a real update, just to let ya know im still here and still have the car I finally tuned the carbs properly, now it goes like stink and sounds awesome! Ill have to swap pilots and mains for diffrent reasons but still it goes great at 70/80%! Im still doin the bodywork and car now its in all gray primer, dont really like it but at least its all one color. I also moved to a new home w/ a private yard and in-house shop, so ill have better place to twinker w/ it. Talk to ya soon everyone! Nick.
  3. Yeah sorry, didnt read too carefully, but then again, im havin a hard time understandin sum of what you guys say, sometimes im not sure if ya all write in "typo-sms style", or if its the kiwi english thats so diffrent, thing is that i had a few collegues and friends from NZ back when i was in england, and aside from the accent i dont remember it bein way diffrent.....anyway, all kool, i dont take stuff seriously usually, probably i just need to get to know ya guys a lil better. Hey Raizer, what about the 302 powered one? Here in EU theres many V8 converion taunus but mostly w/ big billet rims that look like shite......also, apparently other than not having old skool taunus ive only seen 1 mk3 cortina on the picture threads...is there any reason why its not so popular? In the UK theres plenty of'em done up in any style, from rats to top buck drag cars and all in between, even few on juice......like these, sweet if it wasnt for those wheels ! Theres also juiced taunuses but have to dig pics as at the mo' i aint got a clue where theyre stored.....
  4. Thanx for the love guys! It was really kool to see a discussion page started by someone else! I guess i really am in the right spot! I loved this forum from the 1st time ive seen it and now that i have my own fans i can only love it more. To answer all ov ya: 1st, im italian, but know a lot about fords cause i spent 7 or so years in london, england. I suppose there arent any in Oz or NZ as you have the MK III Cortina, like in the UK, The Taunus is the European version for what i know, no body panel is shared but they look a lot alike, the rear of the 'tina is fatter w/ a longer parcel tray, and another clue i remember is the larger kudsel nose and smaller but in the same spot front indicators. There is more, also by an historic point o view but i cant remember how the story goes really and dont wanna speak if im not 100% sure of what im sayin! It is of course the same size as the MK 3, so the pinto is a good candidate for power. Then last but not least, the pinto is not a super powerful engine, it really is kinda crappy in stock form, I suppose the main reason of its popularity was that until some years ago it was a cheap as hell platform to start w/ as junkyards where full of sierras and transits w/ the now much sought after 205 block, and then it had and still has tons of good quality aftermarket speed parts available to make it a back yard built rocket! Hope i havent been to long and boring! Will keep the pics flowin as soon as i paint the beater! Peace, Voodoo Nick.
  5. Right then, mods go on like this: Engine: Original 1.6 4 speed swapped w/ a 205 block 2.0 litre pinto w/ 5 speed tranny scavenged from a 92 sierra, then converted from efi to a double barrel Weber DGAV 32/36 that provided good pull for a couple of years until sum weeks ago after tuning problems ive decided that if i had to loose days tuning the old Weber i might as well install the way kool Esslinger engeneered side draft intake w/ the 4 Mikuni 38s that was hangin in my garage since about a year ago. Took me a week to tune to decent condition but sound and power are well worth the hassle!!! Plus, the satisfation of saying i mounted and synced the thing all by my self, and its my very 1st carb job, its a real kool bonus. Future plans are to have a straight exhaust hooked to two coktail shaker mufflers mounted "bellflower style" in the very next weeks or later a month, then in longer times i would love to have the head milled and cam either grinded or swapped w/ a street/racing cam kit. Suspension: Right now the car is on chopt coils taken if i remeber right from a mid 90s transit van w/ shox to match. Theyre cut just a couple of inches up front and a whole 5 inna rear, to give it that taildraggin stance (or "sand bags in the trunk" look, if you wish.... ......) that i love. The plan is to mount a fbss air bags kit, but as i want to do it seriously w/ notches, trans tunnel rise, sub frame strenghtening and all that follows, before i start tearin into it i will probably swap the cut coils w/ sum safer coilovers, at least in the rear, mostly cause at the moment im doin all the work in the driveway and until i dont have a house w/ a decent garage/shop i cant start baggin her. Body: Sounds silly but ill list this anyway. Ive shaved all emblems and removed almost all trim, since pics where taken ive also removed the front arches chrome. Ive shaved the rear handles but theres no solenoids (yet), shaved the gas door, and relocated the gas tank in the trunk, frenched 2 cad bullets on the sides of the rear reg plate and will also remove rear lights to swap w/ 2 smaller round units to give a smothest look(in the works). Right now it has a homemade flat bars grille that looks menacing but would like to adapt a mk I escort round lights grille in the future. I also have few solenoids and is needed to shave the front doors and trunk and have'em pop open at the push ov a button. Other plans are to paint the car all the same color!!!!! At the mo' it has black body w/ uneven gray primer roof w/ 1 green scallop on rear right wheel arch and sum other "experiment shit" and bondo spots all over. I've sum kool gray primer im gonna go for, so that untl im totally done w/ body work the car its gonna look "even". Wheels: 14" smoothies all round, 6" wide in the front and 7" inna back w/ 175-50-14 pirelli P1000 all round , that give a mild stretch in the rear and a very light one up front. Right now i painted the wheels metallic purple and added white 2" port-a-walls and i must say that the car looks a lot better like this. All green accents inside and outside the car are destined to go for good, as purple its gonna be the definitive "background" color. Interior: At the moment its all odd. Rear seats are finished, its the original bench re-trimmed in white vynil tuck'n'roll, made by a local trimmer that did an amazing job, in fact im gonna give him also my door panels to match the rear seats. front are 60s style racing buckets, but already have 60s fiat 128 buckets to match the style of the rest of the interior. I have white angel hair (muppet fur) for the roof, but i've yet to find the time to tear into it.....its gonna be a real pain! Then theres a lot of small details like a handmade, by me, knuckle duster shifter that i made from an aluminum thick plate and few teardrop knobs here and there and other shit i dont remember that will show in the pictures. Right then, i suppose ive said enuff! I will make my best to be quick to post recent/decent pics of my ride and hope it will be at the level of most of the cars we can see here. Talk to ya'll soon, peace, bonez. Voodoo Nick.
  6. Hi There! Names Nick, im new here and found out about this site thanx to one ov your affiliates on the hamb.Other than Hot Rods, Kustoms and Lowriders im totally addicted to japs and kool cars in general, like those you can find here (the chevette wagon its a perfect example) so here i am from the other side of the planet w/ my slammed Ford! Anyway, this is my neverending project, pics of the car are old, almost 2 years now, but the intake w/ 4 mikuni carbs is new, i just finished syncin'em yesterday evening under the pouring rain!!!! Y'know, i was on the 5 km per liter status!!!!!!!! oh and btw, that in the 3rd pic is my home made manometer to sync the carbs, nothin new, its bike tech but never seen one here so thought could be of intrest. I'll post a list of whats been done to the car on my next post as now im at work and its time to fly home! Hope ya like it! Voodoo Bonez.
