Starter begun making a grinding noises a month or so ago (And I;ve been side tracked / focused on other things for a bit : yeah
then stopped
I've never had a spare until my 1st Visit to Ron's horde the other week
so had it cleaned & checked over and half an hour to swap out & back on the road
Quite nice to drive the old Girl for a change

You can fit anything behind anything
this
Avengers are peculiar : was looking for bolt on applications & the DTV comment got me hooked thus the interest
"any" 5 speed can be made to fit with an Auto Bell housing
Type 9 Cossy's are the proven way to go (matching splines even)
/can lock thread if need be

This 1981 (Dodge Polara) Avenger is also 5 Stud converted using "Maverick" Running gear and runs Dana44 LSD

oh right
guess I saw what I wanted to see & focused on that eh
have often wondered about the Lotus engines & never really looked at them

I was researching the BRM motor & one place says the Chrysler Factory used a DTV Bellhousing to mate a 5 speed ZF to an Avenger 1600 which they campaigned
https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/january-1979/51/chrysler-competitive
QuoteChrysler themselves used a DTV bellhousing to connect up the ZF 5-speed gearbox with the standard road engine in a red Avenger, TAC 691R. This car was immaculately presented for the road and O’Dell used it for many thousands of miles
make of that what you will
could be chinese whispers, might not be
keen to see either way : Google image search hasnt yeided me many results (or I'm not looking for the right thing, And I dont speak Chevette "HS" (which I think they used)
the one I did manage to find looked promising
gives potential to another 5 speed options rather than the old 'find an Auto' & unbolt it

I'm Dreaming here & saw something on the internet and want to learn more (Chrylser Rally team used a DTV Bell + Getrag to make a 5 Speed Avenger)
And I'm interested to learn the similarities OR Differences
Does anyone have a Gearbox lying about? OR a diagram of what we'd be looking at?

"I've heard" ATF is longer 'lasting' than Engine Oil (detergents etc) and wont sweat either

you still need to seal the doors with traditional rubber/tar and alloy mat but it helped the floor and hatch area a noticeable amount.
stuffing the very rear across under the latch with 3layers killed a lot of drone.

interested to know as well if it's a "Resto" : or a "Vinyl cover" cost thing
as one method is filling / bog & paint to look factory
or like my Avenger a pretty sweet 'topper' to slip on
as yeah these are also things people are always asking me about (crack free dash)
like I said : Slips over like a cover (it is a cover) I know mine benefits from 'easy'(ish) straight lines

A friend just bought this up in another forums I am on (NZ)
QuotePET & PP Quality Sound Deadener / Deadening (Self-adhesive) 80cm x 50cm $8
How would something like this compare do you reckon?
other than the perceived 'mass' of it vs KilMat
Or do I just recommend Kilmat?
I think its for his track dedicated Car (fast Street car)

4in1 Inverter Welder MIG MAG TIG ARC MMA Welding

Buy Now899.95$489.95(following this thread as keen to one day be able to glue steel) -
here's the post about Kilmat in KK's build thread
I believe it's deemed OS approved best bang for buck currently?

For example there is a dynamat kit on trade me for 369 for 3.3 square meters so around 110 a square meter or you can get kilmat for 43 a square. Or I paid to have it fast freighted and it still only cost me 58 a square.
