registering interest have sent you a pmSooooo, RX foamers...
Would anyone want to buy an unrestored, tidyish, 1985 Series 3 turbo with matching numbers and 94,000km?
Fully serious question.
-
2.5 kilometers per litre fark me! (And that appears to be considered good)
-
Good result so far - What did you use to clean the non-shiny bits of the wheels?
-
Thanks guys.

Apparently Snells have gone out of business? Does anyone have recommendations for who would make up some front springs without having to take the car to them. Don't mind sending them the original springs or measurements etc. I'm up north but willing to deal with anyone who will do a good job.
-
Good score! Had one just like this as my first car but not this tidy. Cost $120 in Dunedin. We picked up a drunk Taine Randell one night and dropped him home and he ripped the back seat the fat cunt.

I'm glad you were happy with the car mate.
It wasn't perfect, but she looked to me to be a very honest car.
I was actually planing to PM you to see what you thought of it. (I was actually a bit worried that you were driving it back to the far north the same weekend as Lusi)
Yeah drove back the weekend of the cyclone but was no drama except when I first turned to go on to the motorway and put my foot down and the back stepped out big time. The tires are only 165's and the lack of traction round corners is sometimes a wee bit sketchy. Thanks again mate.

After keeping my eye out for a good one of these for a while this 1973 Mitsubishi Galant GTO popped up on here a couple of months ago and it now resides in my garage. Big thanks to forum member Runamuck who got me in touch with the owner Basil. Had a bit of a chat with Basil, liked what I heard so we agreed on a price and I posted a cheque down to Basil and Captain Transporter bought the GTO up to Auckland where I picked it up and drove it up to Whangarei.
It drove perfectly and was a bit more powerful than I expected. The engine has been reconditioned relatively recently and doesn't use any oil or water which is a first for any Mitsubishi I have owned.
The interior is pretty good . Could possibly do with some new carpets but not urgent. Has the original AM radio so listened to talkback all the way home. Was relatively enjoyable so I think the AM radio will probably stay.
The paint is not too bad. It's definitely not perfect with quite a bit of brushed on other shades of yellow in areas where surface rust was obviously treated. The passenger door is a slightly different shade too. I wasn't that sold on the yellow when I saw the original pics and the plan was/is to respray back to original silver but the yellow has grown on me. A respray, if it happens, will be a few years down the track.
It's had a few little nudges over the year, the original wheels have been painted silver, the front grill has a few cracks and there are various other little bits that need attending to but all in all it's a bloody honest little car and a real credit to the previous owners.
Plans? This will be relatively slow. Need to find a couple of badges that are broken, I want to take the rear screen out and check a leak going into the boot (I think there may be some rust around the screen), then get the dents taken out of the bumpers/rechrome and basically tidy her up.
The skinny rear wheels on her can be a bit frightening powering through corners so maybe a set of wider wheels but I don't really want to ruin the originality of the car. Maybe some Advan A3A's and a little bit lower might work.
Feel free to comment or maybe even tell me where I can get an air filter for her. The paperwork included with the car seems to indicate the mechanic couldn't find one to replace the dirty one in there at the moment and I haven't got around to looking!

Awesome work The Bronze keen to read the rest.

What about a 4g63t out of a starion? Should be more straight forward and relatively cheap.
-
Good score. I love these sigmas with the twin round headlights. Looking forward to what you're going to do with it.
-
I'm up north for a fishing holiday this week. Did you see the pair of front shocks for sigma on trademe?
-
-
Ok tomorrow.
-
Nah up in Whangarei. Can courier/post. Not 100% sure they'll fit but someone else may have a better idea?

Got a pair of 1985 Mirage shocks if you want them. Brand new old stock. Can take a pic if you want, I'm not going to be using them.

Whoa thread from the dead.
Get a boost tap and tee it in line with the tubing that goes to the wastgate actuator (actuator is the metal cylinder thing). Then you can adjust how much air you bleed off (and therefore how much the actuator sees) so that the actuator opens the wastegate at a higher boost pressure.

Interested in this have sent you a pm.
As far as value goes I have seen original GS's in good nick go for 10k+ and then most recently an average one on trademe with spare parts car didn't sell for 5k reserve. (Was a shit auction to be honest). An original GS with a 4g63t repower and original paint sold for 7500 a couple of years ago and was re advertised in the lastest classic car magazine for the same but has since sold. Was original colour and pretty mint. All depends on the right person coming along as said above.

Had an Atenza 2.3 hatch a couple of years ago. Lowered sensibly etc, better exhaust, gay pod filter. Power and economy was good. Wife broke the front lip as a little bit low. We gave it a service and trans flush when we got it @ 90k and did normal servicing until sold at 150k without any problems except a broken engine mount (weird knocking which we originally thought was steering) which was fixed relatively cheaply. Would buy again.
Oh the wife thought the electric windows were broken for a few weeks when she was driving it but turns out she had the window lock button pushed down. Easy fix.

If all else fails sell the car to me.
Edit: Quite serious.

Squirt a bit of fuel into the throttlebody and see if it stutters into life. Sounds like fuel problem. Is this Mike?

I have used Captain Transporter a few times now and recommend both for best value and good service.
