dizzy = distributor
youre either on the mark or one tooth forward or back.
put a socket on the crank and wind the engine till the camshaft on the side of the engine where the dizzy is (exhaust cam) has a small notch visible on it at the cambelt end of the motor.
this notch should be directly on the top at the correct position. you may need to pull that side of the rocker cover off to see properly. this wont hurt anything.
next get the dizzy and have both the small holes in line like this
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g122/ ... uild16.jpg
insert the dizzy in with the hole on top, it will try turn left or right.
simply let it turn as it slides in then bolt/ plug up and try it.
this will take a couple of goes. one you have it running you can rotate the dizzy slightly till it idles smoothly and then get a friend with a timing light to later confirm/ set the timing exactly for you. timing light flashes when the spark runs through lead/cyl number one and lets you line the spark timing up with the notch on the crank pulley.
this should do it.
il try find you a pic of the camshaft mark too.
*edited for poor english
-
line up the marks on the cam and dizzy and try it till it works. you cant really hurt anything and theres only about 3 possible positions it will slip into.
fuck i got my smallport running with a cam 180 out due to using the old owners timing marks and not checking it myself.

Davie motors in manukau are the suppliers of nice products which is the brand that supplies most parts places their studs.
however the catalogues only list knurl diameter not courseness (not a real word?) so you may just have to measure carefully and take the plunge.
-
Il be there, this will be my first welly meet, look forward to meeting a few new people. Sounds like its going to be a pretty big one.
So just to confirm its april 12th at holy pizza?
-
015 'should' be sweet i ran one on my 13b with no trouble all the way from the boot. the 020 is supposed to suit 6 or small 8cyl i think.
-
fair enough, i would suspect slave next if not. sounds like your on the right track anyway with the hydraulics.
-
how olds the clutch? if its been replaced the flywheel may not have been machined with the correct step.
OR
if the rear main leaks, which is pretty common, the clutch may not be engaging properly and it doesnt want to go into gear at that/any rpm until that oil has burned away by driving.
has the slave been replaced or recoed?
clutches can be fiddly bitches at times, im on my 3rd different sized release bearing just to get the correct amount of freeplay
-
i could prob work around the fence depending on the place but would obviously still need to be allowed him.?
-
Hey all
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this but thought it wouldnt hurt to ask;
The wife and I are looing for a place to rent in the welly region.
im staying in pram at the moment so all good to travel a bit.
i need a garage and most importantly a place which is DOG FRIENDLY. ie fenced and not in Stokes valley haha.
willing to spend up to 400 a week.
so if y'all know of anything or anything coming up i will be keen to hear. shits dried up as of late.
We are professional, quiet tenants with refences.
Bottle of piss for finders fee
cheers,
-
Ive done this with 'mates' and they usually come back full of shit with no rego/ clutch and and the odd fine following in the mail a few weeks later.
i also had a mate write off my silvia while "going to get gas"
no more lending cars for me haha
-
it will be piss easy to replace, most repcos/ partmaster etc sell frost plugs but youll have to fish it out 1st to get the correct diameter.
you should be able to borrow or buy a simple tool to wind it out like this
http://www.naed.com.au/images/648452w.jpg
you may as well do them all while youre at it they cost about $2 each
-
yeah go dan this thing looks even sweeter in the flesh and im no honda fan
