  1. No advantages, me an ash just recon they look cool. And the hat is just to stop rain going down the muffler pipes
  2. Hey chaps, im hoping someone can help me before the morning. So, if you've read my thread I went and made a 2.5" zorts straight through jobby with a twin muffler split in the rear. This is too big, as with most other things on my car. Ahwell, live and learn. anyway. It's too loud at the moment, so to quieten it down im going to put another muffler/resonator in tomorrow. Which of the following methods will work the best at reducing noise yet still allowing a rather straight through design? and in the rear or my car at the exhaust tip end I'm going to be facing each tip upwards. Which one of the methods will work best? I'm thinking either B or C to stop rain getting down there?? But will that restrict flow too much? Thanks for any help guys.
  3. well I didn't think so, since factory is 2". Might just need a bit more muffling.
  4. So I finally finished my 2.5" straight through system with my 2 mufflers. Just to find out that this thing is WAY too loud. So I will be trailing a deflection type silencer, to see if that can quieten things down a bit.
  5. I had a look at that earlier, but didn't know wether or not I need somesort of inside lining. Went to buy exhaust piping today, far its alot dearer that I expected. $10/bend and $20/m Tutor told me he paid $20 for 8 bends and like $9/m at the same place. Will have to save up a few weeks before going back.
  6. haha yea well seems to be for me that it takes experience for me to be persuaded in situations. Can't just be told shit.
  7. Here are some picks that I took when I first put the wheels on The good : I like the way larger wheels make the car look even smaller The bad : scrubbing and lots of it. Can't say I've noticed alot different ride characteristics however. Another bad point : I am actually really starting to like the look of 13's + slam. However, due to the fact that these tyres cost me a shitload, I will only look into getting new wheels once these tyres start to die. ( skids to hasten process?? ). Also please GTFO with any "told you sos'
  8. Ghay coz I think my connector is playing up. Ahwell will have a squiz behind the wheel
  9. does a car need a horn to be legal? I know there is something about a warning device, but do hazards suffice?
  10. My new rubber arrived today Now just need to get it fitted
  11. soapy duct tape? super glue? but metal cement whatever that is sounds good
  12. sounds like both front wheel bearing are on their way out. Money pit of serious high Km's
  13. I like that red veilside one. A bit O/T but here's a muffler I made at tech ( it will not be going on a car ): inlet exhaust how it works
  14. time to change you sig dave? hmmm nah. I think I'll keep it. Still agree with it. Long live the days of en engine, carby, battery and dizzy.
  15. Another major factor in wheel choice is lack of the green stuff. Couldn't find a nice pair of smaller rims that I liked and could afford. Sure that everyone knows what that is like at some point in their life. But yea, I have no problem with people having a differing opinion. Heck, most people who ask if it's my car feel inclined to tell me how much of a woman's car it is. Every one of them Bitches don't know about my man's car. Anyone know if the clubman racing style cars use lighter A-Arms?? as the MX-5 one's are quite heavy. Also, looming ideas of manual steering rack, no air-con pump. no P/S pump. with SC14?? but yea, just ideas. Am waiting on a book written by Keith Tanner ( flying miata ) about MX-5 performance. See what the book has to say.
  16. cheers brad. who knows, will see what it's like. If I don't like it and find some nice smaller rims then will take that path.
  17. Have to say that the veilside kit and hard top does make it look alot like a mini batmobile. Am going to pick up some 17" rims tomorrow. Flame suit on and all. But alas, I don't want my car 2" from the ground at the moment. Could do with a lil lower however. Might do at tech sometime along with wheel align. Found out my roof leaks fairly bad sometimes, as passenger seat was soaked after standing out in rain. However that hasn't happened for a while so Don't know what's up with that.
  18. What size wheels start messing around with the handling?
