    Diesel oils

As discussed in another thread of mine, i need to change my ld28s engine oil and coolant. Is it going to be ok to use CAT Diesel Oil in my LD28? Will it be too advanced or contain to many cleansers etc.? I ask about the CAT product as I can get it for free pretty much. THanks
  2. Will it be noticable? I dont see any leaks externally. How big of a job is it to do the water pump in a ld28? I found a site with a workshop manual for the motor before but havn't look at it yet.
  3. So motor, diff, gearbox, coolant fluids. And air, oil and fuel filters? Why do you think that about the waterpump?
  4. Hey everyone! Yesterday I purchased a '84 Nissan Laurel featuring a ld28 and 5spd. The vehicle came into the country at 75,xxxkm in 1995 and upto today has done 91,xxxkm. I'm new to diesels.. Apparently the vehicle sat around for a few years under a cover in a shed. The guy I bought it from said it still has the same diesel in it since it was in storage (I got the car with just over 1/4 tank of diesel). I was wondering what servicing I should give it? I know its not upto 100,000km yet and these motors are fairly bullet proof but i thought i might do it soonish anyway. Should I change the motor, gearbox and diff oil? Do i need to check anything with the injector pump? Radiator coolant is looking rather brown, so I'll probly need to flush the radiator. Do these motors have alloy heads, what mix of glycon and water should i use? Thanks

  6. What pete said. Pop off the handbrake cable and brake hose, swing caliper off and put in vice for infinately time easier removal.... tried that. it wont swing down unfortuanly. i'm just going to angle grind the head off. thanks tho
  7. = melting rubber boots, brake lines; etc
  8. yeh im gonna anglegrind and remove the rest with stilcins or vicegrips. pic:
  9. i think kyteler's technique is going to be the simplest. i dnt have access to a welder so i cant welt a bolt onto the welded one and theres no clearance for it anyway. i have some stilcins great for the job but once again there isnt enough clearance to get at the bolt wiht them.
  10. ive tried vice grips = no go ive tried making the edges new with a chisel and then fitting a smaller socket = no go dunno how the hell an angel grinder would help. i feel fucked off. do i dare take it down to the brake shop??
  11. Hey guys, I'm changing my rear brake pads on my ef8. I did the left side wit no problems. I just went to do the right side and the bottom calliper bolt is totaly rounded off!! How do i get this stuffed bolt out? I'm frustrated to the baddest now, i guess i should put the old pad back on the left side for the mean time? Thanks.
