Cheers guys, guess there goes that idea
Could a 4wd R series box be modified to run 2wd only similar to whats done with a nissan gtr gearbox?
-
Cheers for the speedy reply, wanting to run a 1kzte in a 2wd hilux
-
Can R series bellhousings be swapped onto say a W or G series gearbox?
-
never heard a diesel sound like that
-
yea pinched a new injector from pikapart and its going sweet
-
yep in tauranga, where does the ecu hide on a primera? couldnt find it when I looked in the usual places
-
Anybody got any knowhow with these engines? Mate has a P10 primera with one of these engines, its a single point injection setup, never seen one before and thought it was carby till I took the air filter off.
It was working fine until a few days ago, then the injector stopped spraying fuel, its getting fuel though (didnt have a multimeter on me so couldnt check if the injector was getting a pulse)
-
engine check light could be speed sensor for gearbox not connected? Have a similar problem with the townace, ECU packs a sad because it doesnt get a speed sensor reading and throws on the check light after bout 15min driving too

So went from looking like this
to this
Good to have it fixed as I can wind the adjustables back down now
Have had a electric thermometer probe mounted in the intake for the last couple off days to see what the intake temps are like.
Theres little room for the intake and pod filter under the seat so it sits behind the radiator.
Intake temps range from 28degrees up to 52 degrees
Temps that high cant be good for performance or fuel economy so Im after ideas for a decent cold air intake.
Was thinking of throwing one of these ricey filters in there with some ducting rigged up to the factory cold air intake that runs from the bumper up the passengers chassis rail to where the 2C-T airbox used to be.
Found these shiny brake discs that will be a straight fit on so will look at getting some when I have the coin

Has anybody had any experience with these?
-
Cheers for the info boys
Got a silly idea in my head to find a lux like this
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Toyota/Hilux/auction-296174412.htm
Fit 1kzte with intercooler and 3" exhaust + LSD for speedy economical daily/parts hauler

Will look into all of this, finding a manual 1kz bellhousing could be hard and expensive. There are engines sold on trademe with auto bellhousings, could one these be of any use?
-
yea hiace vans come 1kz and manual but a van gearbox would be unsuitable as I require floor change whereas van gearboxes are cable shifted
-
Has anybody done this or have an idea on how to do it?
Reason I ask is that pretty much all 1kz engines have an auto or 4wd box behind them so no factory 2wd gearboxes that I know of
W55 with an adapter? Do they share a common bellhousing pattern with another toyota engine?

Guessing you had an interview for the job today? Was just comming back into the depot and saw the lancer leaving

F series from a 4wd liteace or townace is 1410mm from memory. Drum brake and a funky stud pattern but those are easily overcome

Just picked this up today and drove it home from Auckland
New Zealand new 1986 Sr5 Extra Cab, im only the 3rd owner and it was originally from the south island.
Its mint, no rust and still has original manual and sales info
Powered by a 3y with 186000kms on it, runs like a dream(was expecting it to be a gutless piece)
Plans are roll it as a daily and start saving for a 1kz-te or a 1kd-ftv to drop in it.
Was thinking of converting it to EFI until that happens, anyone got a a 3y injection setup lying round?
