Thought about using a F series diff instead of a hilux diff?
-
These are the shizz!
-
Diff is a diskbraked F series from an estima, just need a altezza torsen center now.
Got the hiace for the 5 stud front hubs and brakes, plan is to fit them with supercustom disks as they are bigger than std hiace ones (300mm) and the nissan 4pots. Stripping the rest of the van to finance the diff conversion
Will be 5 stud all round after the brake and diff swap so will roll on these till I find suitable rims, any suggestions on rim choice?
Should stop plenty good with new brakes and go sideways with new diff
Will I need to upgrade the brake master cylinder with the new brakes since there bigger?
-
I'd get some beefier ones from a 4x4 and get them resplined.
That way you can go low and have them hard and then don't have to worry about springs falling out, fabrication or certs.
Interesting idea will look into doing this

townace van
-
Anybody done this before? Toying with the idea of doing it to the townace since the rear already has adjustables
-
very nice but they all seem too shiny, need more oily floors, car parts, half built engines and cars being worked on.
More like musems than garages

From my experiences with matamata, if you enjoy drinking waikato, burnouts and dairy farmers daughters then matamata is for you
-
Exactly what I needed to hear thanks

Have been playing round with fitting hiace brakes and hubs to the townace, only problem is the inner bearing on the hiace hub is larger than the townace bearing, can the seal and bearing be pressed out and a new bearing of suitable size be pressed in with no problem so the hubs will fit on the townace spindle?

Green brothers in tauranga if you have no luck in hamilton, they do alot of hilux diff conversions
-
yea mounting all the gen2 stuff and wiring are my main concerns, hoping flanges on intake and exhaust could just be changed and port matched.
-
Whats the differences on gen3 engines vs gen2?
I know theres some improvements in the gen3 engine over the gen2 (better oil pick up setup better head more hp etc)
Was thinking of getting a gen3 3sge since there cheap and giving it a freshen up to eventually replace the gen2 engine in the van.
Will the gen2 mounts powersteering alternator waterlines etc bolt up to a gen3 engine? Are the looms different?
Cheers

Hmmm E series diffs aint to happy with receiving clutch kicks
Yum yum! spider gear soup anyone?
Will get the f series in as soon as funds permit
Chucked some new shocks in the front aswell
Whats the deal with double swaybar setups?

Turns out theres no injector pulse coming from the ECU and its only firing because its getting fuel from the cold start injector, also theres a nice melted blob of solder on one of the curcuit boards bridging a couple of diodes, im guessing its time for a new ECU?
-
Yea should be fine, all RB manual boxes share the same yolk except rb25det gearboxes
-
Has all three of those, is @ the auto sparkys now getting looked at, theres no power going to the ignition feed for some reason and it still wont start when manually bridged to power it, does the ignition feed run to anywhere on the motor aswell as the ECU that would cause it not to run?
-
how common is it for 3sge igniters to die? could this be causing the problem?
cheers
-
Was running fine till halfway to work this morning it just died, will fire once when trying to start then cough and die, wont fire again unless the ignition is turned off then on again. Can hear the fuel pump still buzzing away and fuel filter is new. Guessing its an electrical problem but dont know where to start looking for problems
cheers

Yep had been doing fairly spirited driving all weekend
-
Yea ohwell things happen. Yep will get them beefed up when I get it fixed
-
Was driving home from tairua in the weekend and heard a pop, pulled over expecting to find a flat tyre but found this
Bottom shock mount has cracked and broken off which sent the tein into the road bending it slightly(should straighten out) then into the rim taking out a nice chunk of it.
So out came the rangimods to get home
Still bowling round with it like this till I get the mount re welded tomorow

Is there a possibility that an oil cooler for a beams 3sge fit a gen2 3sge? Cheap Trust one on trademe for an altezza with built in thermostat that im looking at
-
nah haven't brought one yet was just wanting to get some opinions on them first, dont want to buy something then have it leak oil and cook my engine

You can find them in estima vans and 4x4 townaces, some estima vans come disk braked too
Factory lsd options are easy like with hilux diffs and altezza torsen diff centers can be swapped into them
