For the rear, what about putting in a sheet of MDF from the windscreen down to the seats? Gives you free space for the speakers to mount flush on the MDF. Cuts out the two angles and makes use of the void in between if that makes sense. Cover the mdf in black/whatever colour carpet and it would look pretty tidy.

Depending on how you're doing it you could add a fine mesh to the bottom near the pickup so grease can't get through

I'm going to try some BBQ grills. I'm going square over a drum though as I have tools for woodworking but not sheet metal so would make it hard work to use a drum. For disc rear end i've managed to get away with scuffing the pads/ discs up, but next time that didn't work so took the calipers in and got them checked over / regreased whatever for like $40 and they are perfect now.

Also, is there a reason you can't have it 'FI' with the carb anyway?

if a car had a cert for a FI 4age, will it need a recert when it get 'upgraded' to carbs?

As well as the steering wheel (which hd stopped working). Had an argument about it with the WOF guy so printed up the requirements and got the item taken off the list
