  1. Wanting to IRS convert a low spec (solid rear) 80s toyota mark ii/chaser/cresta. They have the same floor pan and I have taken the braces between chassis rails and outer sills for the subframe pickup points from an IRS parts car. Is this a straight forward swap with regards to cert if using factory parts? Screenshot_20240404_074721_Chrome.thumb.jpg.9f559ebba27afa790d7d1e3126d8222c.jpg

57071/2 are the braces i kept still attached to section of chassis rail and outer sill for correct placement

  2. Have somehow done 10,000kms since May!

Ignored the rust and installed some Carrozzeria audio

Picked up this 1999 FH-P7000MD model with a lower half that tilts which is optimum for van seating height to radio location, I just can't see a thing on the top half. This era of carrozzeria is perfect for adding Bluetooth via the ipbus cd changer control port Screenshot_20240102_151703_Gallery.thumb.jpg.9aeeee7c4b638d93bed4fe3c25016b26.jpg

Paired with the TS-X9401ZY which was a Daihatsu move factory option ceiling speaker. Screenshot_20240102_151724_Gallery.thumb.jpg.9a4523658146fa9abb8d389ba48f86b6.jpg

works pretty well in the spot where the missing rear aircon piece is. Mounting to factory holes on the body after I drilled a couple of holes in the bracket the speaker came with and is slim enough not to obstruct rear passengers view out windscreen. I need to pick up the missing end caps for the speaker and that should tidy it up more

  3. Recently I was able to take the 20:6 speedo drive from the yh61hv at my local pickapart to assist with 10% smaller tyres fitted

its still out by 6% but I think that's the most teeth available with 5 on the gearbox side. Probably be in the ballpark if I change to 3.9 final drive.

Some of the toyota manuals arrived and while looking for the tacho wiring I found the 104km/h chime to de-pin (c3)

Still at a bit of a loss with the tacho even though I've identified the pins. I tried an old tacho wired direct to them with no luck. It has a distributor with coil built into the side of it under the cap with just one two pin plug going to it it (ig+ and ig-?) I've checked continuity between dizzy plug and dash and that was fine also

  4. Yeah! Drivers side and has idler/belt tensioner as pictured. Screenshot_20230813_072929_Chrome.jpg.7faf1e7b66ad0625b7bf00766d4451fd.jpg

Not sure where you are in the country but if I get that full set from pickapart there will be a spare engine bracket as my van still has that on the block. I am missing the tensioner/idler pulley but atleast there will be one to copy or it may even be available new

  5. I'd assume evaporator box is still in there due to complexity of removing dash/working on anything in that front section. I see there's aftermarket r134a compressor of the same model that visually look the same for old land cruisers. What else needs to be changed for r134a upgrade?

  6. Query #1

My 1989 YH51G hiace has had the aircon stripped out of it and I would like to reinstate it.

There's the same model van at pickapart with all of its aircon still attached, for $137 I can get all of it.

The compressor says r12 on the back and I vaguely remember it's no longer available in NZ or some other yarn similar.

Basically I don't know what I'm doing and would like to learn if this is the best method to refit aircon.

The other spanner in the works is that I plan to change the engine which would have the compressor on the other side, is it costly to have lines made up for this and to de-gas and re-gas when the swap happens?
