I'm not into the whole old bike thing and know nothing about them... but this copper plating a bike has got to be the coolest idea i have heard for a long time. It looks great and will only get better!
-
hahahah fuck this is funny.
I feel bad. If you can't jack a car up without advice then maybe its OK if you get instruction on painting wheels.
-
TRD rear wing. Made by that mike shaw character. Second hand because im on a tight budget. You can see my new (old) webber charcoal BBQ in the background too!.. woo.
-
is that going to tarnish and turn green? cooool
-
I'm keen to hear your feedback on the new engine location once racing starts. Sorry if i missed this- but have you had it on corner scales?
-
man drilling holes in your strut towers would take all of 5 minutes total.
Or just get wheels that fit proper.
-
No need to be like that, Mike.
cool idea. I'd come....but my 85 is years away from being done.
-
nah i'll sell those wheels as want something much much wider to fill out some TRD guard blisters.
I'll clean these wheels up a bit and sell them... or sell them as is.
I had a chat to my cousin yesterday- He's a panel beater. He'll be coming over to spray the paint and primer
plan is 13bt, bigger diff, trd n2 kit

this is the problem. I can do an OK job but i doubt it will be flawless. If its an issue he'll get a professional to do the welding and repair work. if its not a problem then i'll do it... or get someone else with better skills to have a crack.
-
so.
Went for a drive with a mate last night.
Inspected a sweet as fuck ae85 notch. Its dereg. Stock as a rock and totally rust free except for the boot floor and the lip that the boot lid seal sits on.
Its been purchased for a very nice price.
He wants to fix the rust in the boot, tidy it up a wee bit and then get it registered again.
Will he need a repair cert for the rust in the boot? or can we just repair it all by ourselfs and take it in for registering without problem?
I know he needs to call someone professional who knows the answer but figured i'd see what you guys know.
Chur,

thanks for the info Kpr. Mike shaw seems to do some good stuff for ae's......also very cool that he is local to me

what was the fitment like of your fiberglass doors? in the pics they look to fit awesome!
windows and seals etc still work like they should?
-
just had a look through the thread. Man those wheels look good!!
-
Hahahahahha yeah xyrath showed me that vid and some pics of it back before everyone raped the hell out of it. Once upon a time not that long ago it was very nice.
-
Awesome. Sussed one mint front guard tonight AND a tailgate with (the nearly compulsary) TRD spoiler installed.
-
yeah was thinking of F2, which comes in a spray can.
F3 is supposed to be good as it handles heat well.
-
thanks for the tip, sheriff simon.
-
its as good as a bonnet could get, i guess?
This one is of very minimal construction with very little of the internal skeleton being used.
I carried both bonnets above my head from the truck to my shed. The carbon one is lighter for sure BUT the difference is sweet fuck all.
I would not recommend wasting money on one unless you really dig the look of unpainted weave.
-
hey, can you take a photo of that carbon fibre bonnet please.
I may get it in the long run.
Its not for sale... and currently it has a dragon ball Z character and an alien airbrushed onto it.........It'll be painted body color.
-
Neo, yeap thats the one!. The car floated around that group for a few years back when it was in muuuch nicer condition.
Dave, where in the country are you?
fulloc, hahahaha, i need more than two wheels tho.
-
hey thanks man.
Nah way too skinny for my liking. Someone should buy them, give them a tidy up.
-
so here is the car.
It looks terrible in the pics but really its not THAT bad in real life. Very minor rust. It needs new front trueno guards but everything else there is pretty choice.
Wheels will prob be for sale sometime soon if anyone is keen. 14's and unsure on width and offset. 3 have been sprayed black.
Its a good starting point for a project!
-
u are so right, sorry man. Got totally confused between this and a spray adhesive which im SURE was F3.... but google proves otherwise. shame.
-
no. ados f3 and similar can soften with heat. You'll find many people who have used that glue and had vinyl sag and shit the first time its been out in the sun.
Gotta be carefull- many of these spray adhesives even say " not for use on headlinings, vehicle interiors" on the back.
You need to go find some proper upholstery spray adhesive. Its out there if you look hard enough and speak to the right people. They have very cool nozzles on them that make the glue come out in a spidey web rather than a mist... worth it just for that experience.

hahaha yeah maybe a 20v or bluetop is on the cards.
Its being stripped down tomorrow. Cousins going to paint it for me once the rust is done
