I've seen it done - it stiffens the ride but is less than ideal as the shock can cavitate without gas pressure.

These skully viability lights are far brighter than expected (blinding) and the way they attach (silicone straps) is very neat! they have full on or flash mode and because of the way they mount can be put near anywhere!

The bar tape was virtually the cheapest I could buy off trademe and I got red as well as the yellow to make postage better value hahaha. My first time taping bars and thought it was going to be harder than it was.
Long distances.... Maybe. Seat choice was more because my ass is not used to sitting on a bike swat and conventional seats get painful fast. I have a white conventional seat that I will try later on too.
The wheels are compagnolo and have caused some wasted time due to their unique freehub cassette spline which is different to everyone else's. It's ment that I could not just buy a normal single speed hub conversion kit off the shelf here in nz. If had to search long and hard for some compag sprockets in 15, 16 and 17 teeth and I will have to make the spacers myself.
Not too sure what I will do for a brake lever. I'm thinking I will mount a bar end lever into the top of the stem via an adaptor bush to keep the handlebars free of clutter.

Thanks. Yes, will chop steerer tube when I get a chance. The seat is an interestIng one; it's not just for triathletes but for anyone who values their bits. I did lOts of research before buying to make sure it was the right move
The frame is off eBay and has a bit of a cult following overseas. It's extremely good value for money! Since its single speed specific it has cool horizontal rear dropouts with adjuster bolts to enable easy chain tensioning.

Hi all.
I thought i would make a post about my new love- bicycles. I've got two at the moment- one is around 25 years old and one i just built up thismorning - I'll show you all that one there first (hopefully it interests someone)
Because i am away from home so much i had PLENTY of boring nights surfing the net buying parts- i got back late last night and basically had a full kit of parts sitting at home waiting for me. Some parts are new and some parts are in good second hand condition. I've bought parts so far from Trademe, Ebay, Torpedo7, kiwivelo,cycletime and velo-ideale. I'm a real bargain hunter so waited till the perfect buy would pop up then pounced.
So this is basically what i started with at 7.30 thismorning. I had already previously fitted the tires and tubes to my wheels although both have gone flat while sitting for the past few weeks (wtf)
And then over the next 1.5 hours i threw it together minus brakes (wont fit my front forks, dammit) and chain + rear sprocket.
There were a few unexpected issues. Firstly- I couldn't fit my nice super-light carbon forks ($50 off TM) as the lower bearing journal appears to be slightly larger than normal- I think i will probably grind out the centre race of my current bearing slightly to get it on. Until now its rocking the aluminum fork that came with the frame.
Secondly, i had to spend a fair amount of time with a thread file removing paint so that the bottom bracket would screw it.
Thirdly- the fixing bolt which should hold my front brake caliper down (only running one caliper) is too short.. DAMMIT. I thought, thats cool; i'll just run it on the rear instead..... but the bolt is too long for use back there...... not sure how i'll deal with that.
Taping the bars up was fun- and because i have cut the bars down to bullhorns (more practical for round town riding) i only used half the usual bar tape.. BONUS.
My other bike is an old NZ made frame which the previous owner converted to single speed. It has rotten tires, wobbly wheels that badly need truing and brakes that don't work much at all.
For some reason though its very fun to ride!
I'll snap some pics of that later on once i have fitted its new old-style drop bars
Unfortunately i am going away again tonight so probably wont get to finish these and test ride for weeks

I see it confusion tho...... It's rather confusing. Ps, calipers are on front edge of front disks and rear edge of rear disks.

I saw a bunch at auction over a year back. Turners I think but not sure. I was told they were Matt clear coated over nice paint.

It can be very very expensive if they want to service the whole pump, which they will prolly try doing. I suggest signing up to ore.co.nz and asking there

would have to be seperate so you don't just aerate the oil more maybe?
