hcd in ham has a box of sample automotive seals.
-
I'd have been there but have to drive to taumarinui
-
option 1 for sure. hope that rack doesn't fall off!!
-
after 18 months! I would just forget about it and move on. unless its super cheap/ you buy it expecting to fix rust

Chrome checker-plate for the floor?
please dont do it

Did you get that seal in? May have missed tat in your post.
They can be a total BITCH if things are not 100% right. Scrape the edge of the hole so that its not a sharp edge to ruin the seal as it goes in. Grease the crap out of the seal. Use a plate to push the seal in. If its REALLY tight then use two plates that are like a big washer with a hole in the middle and a length of threaded rod through the diff to pull the seal in (one plate on each side of the diff). Sometimes its easier to pull it in slowly rather than punching it in.
Also that seal might be OK if you use some loctite gasket sealer or similar on the OD.
May ave missed the relevant update- if so.. soz.

Thats going to be a good looking bike!!!!

I love the wheels you have. Probably best if you strip that car to absolutely bare and get it dipped.... Better you than me!
And please make your signature pic smaller. It bugs the crap outa me. Its like nearly 3" tall on my screen.. and its not a big screen.

I'm a huge fan of your work man, the repairs look great so far!!

With all those extras, this mighty 1.0 litre made exactly 1 hp more than a Holden Starfire motor
yes but this motor is red

because wooden floor is ballin
I recommend polished matai
I reckon ply with a veneer of something nice looking.

iv seen PVC tube pumped up to over 100psi. this will be fine.
to complicate thingsthough.. I just did some googling. pressure in an lpg tank is only approx 165psi ( depends on ambient temp and gas mix)

maybe have an in-line oiler?
-
if u have a mate with a lathe and another with a welder... build up the missing bits with weld and machine smooth
-
If he got offered an apprenticeship there why would he still be a checkout bitch?
that is not a fair statement at all!!!
I mean, for all you know this guy could be a shelf stacker, deli worker OR a cabbage cutter!

sweet some guy at work (newworld)
probably not the best place to get automotive advice.
-
I vote that it doesn't matter one noticeable jot.

Forget about MR2 powersteer, too complicated and too much fucking around.
I say for starters just loop the PS lines and work on the critical bits to get it going!
Although, if you are a sucker for punishment I do have an SW20 that I'm planning on parting out at some point when I'm less lazy.
google it. lots of DIY articles showing how it's done.

thanks guys. great info

is the chevette related to the Gemini?
making engine mounts myself is no problem. it's just I really cbf doing everything from scratch. if a 308 bolts to the stock Gemini box with right bell housing and all I have to do is build mounts... that's fuckin perfect. I don't want to go down the path of moving firewall etc etc just yet. iv been there and it was not fun ( although this was before I became a rig welding fiend)
being able to keep the stock interior ur modified would be very nice.

Mmm seems a lot more involved then i want it to be. I was thinking of partial assistance from the pump by making it run one speed the whole time.
it can't be that bad- its supposed to be very commonly done on hot rods with exposed motors etc.

Pity Lingling isn't here anymore, I heard he could get complete ones for $600
I have heard that the oil control rings on Blacktops aren't that great/they all use oil, so you would be better off rebuilding it anyway.
what happened to lingling? I actually felt bad when I realized he wasn't posting

not sure if I miss- understand the discussion but there are aftermarket looms available for hot rods etc- you choose the number of separate circuits you need and the kit supplies everything- wires, relays and fuse box.
sorry if iv missed the obvious
