I'll flick you a pm yowzer.
is the bell housing part of the gearbox case or can it be separated?
to be honest I'd personally not worry about the crack as long as its not massive. if its not a wof issue then just keep an eye on it then pull the box if it gets worse ( I doubt it will ever change unless you smash it into more stuff)
the problem with aluminium is that it needs to be clean as hell to have any success- being engine/ box related I assume there will be residue in the crack itself. so, I'd want to take it off the car and clean it thoroughly before welding/ grinding it. also I'm not sure I possess the skill to tig weld aluminium upside down!!
just my opinions.
if I was you I'd take the car into MRX and get a quote/ rough idea of how they would deal with it- I think they have the ability to weld aluminium there and hoists would make it millions times easier.
if there quote is billions then pm me and you can give me cracked bit to do off car

do you have gearbox out? what exactly is damaged? if the box is still in the car and there is teams fluid leaking out... it'll be a cunt. if its out of the car, able to be thoroughly cleaned and is easy to transport ( eg not a whole gearbox) give it to me and I'll do it at work.

yeah you are lucky jase as the chev v8s have like every aftermarket part imaginable. get a sandwich block to feed cooler or get a remote filter adaptor and run as many remote filters and coolers as you want.
-
lots of 4x4 guys do it- I'm sure it must be ok
-
seat looks great!

I would not feel comfortable solid mounting the engine AND gearbox as it then becomes a stressed member. I have no idea if its actually a problem but you could exert some serious force on the gearbox mountain points should the chassis flex

wont the water just evaporate out by itself when running and hot? its not going to sit down in there forever im sure. i vote run cheap oil/ diesel oil and change it once or twice fairly soon after getting it going
-
not sure if I miss- understand the discussion but there are aftermarket looms available for hot rods etc- you choose the number of separate circuits you need and the kit supplies everything- wires, relays and fuse box.
sorry if iv missed the obvious

anyone even remotely interested in buying this?
the mrs has made it clear that because of other things coming up I'm only allowed one car....and there's a Gemini that I want right NOW!
purrs like a kitten, best daily on earth. have done numerous long trips in it and absolutely no hint if it being anything but awesome.
pm me if you are interested at all,
cheers

option 1 for sure. hope that rack doesn't fall off!!
-
after 18 months! I would just forget about it and move on. unless its super cheap/ you buy it expecting to fix rust

Chrome checker-plate for the floor?
please dont do it

Did you get that seal in? May have missed tat in your post.
They can be a total BITCH if things are not 100% right. Scrape the edge of the hole so that its not a sharp edge to ruin the seal as it goes in. Grease the crap out of the seal. Use a plate to push the seal in. If its REALLY tight then use two plates that are like a big washer with a hole in the middle and a length of threaded rod through the diff to pull the seal in (one plate on each side of the diff). Sometimes its easier to pull it in slowly rather than punching it in.
Also that seal might be OK if you use some loctite gasket sealer or similar on the OD.
May ave missed the relevant update- if so.. soz.

I love the wheels you have. Probably best if you strip that car to absolutely bare and get it dipped.... Better you than me!

With all those extras, this mighty 1.0 litre made exactly 1 hp more than a Holden Starfire motor

I reckon ply with a veneer of something nice looking.

iv seen PVC tube pumped up to over 100psi. this will be fine.
to complicate thingsthough.. I just did some googling. pressure in an lpg tank is only approx 165psi ( depends on ambient temp and gas mix)
-
maybe have an in-line oiler?
-
if u have a mate with a lathe and another with a welder... build up the missing bits with weld and machine smooth
4WD to RWD Gearbox conversion.

just giving food for thought.
consider the td42 from Nissan. they are 4.2 l straight 6 and LOVE boost. guys get very very impressive power out of them. there are cheap and awesome cast turbo manifolds available.
best part? diesel bell housing mounts it to the 300zx auto trans.
the best place to ask is probably ore.co.nz as those guys live and breathe this stuff and will surely have all answers
