    So bikes all good then?

Haven't really looked. There was a strange buzzing from the front end during the return trip which could be front bearings but that's a minor.

I was a bit worried about the forks being bent backward but haven't checked, people stack these things far harder than this without problem.

To clarify, this was the 525 dirt bike not the 530 road legal bike.

ohh noooo! run out of talent or bikes fault? hope your ok

    Definitely talent. Bike is faultless.

I was too focused on the immediate challenge and not looking far enough ahead to see where I was going to end up.

Really lucky I was so close to home and not in the Bush or whops as was able to pull choke to raise idle and get it back one handed.

  3. Unfortunately the scafoid bone makes a terrible sacrificial link. It's a very shit bone to heal and can have some terrible consequences. Last time I was in a cast for 16 weeks. Nightmare.

I don't agree with those guys about transferring the damage, I have delicate lady wrists that I reckon are just piss weak.

  4. I been playing on the 525 every night round the farm and Theres an awesome play area for people better than me... I didn't fully understand what was over a rampy jump thing and landed nose first into a small ditch/bank. Stopped very abruptly, got burns on inside of knees from sliding forward on radiator shrouds lol and pretty bruised chest area from smashing into the un padded stem and bars

If you can stretch your budget get a crf450L and put motard wheels on it

Release in 2019 so its a modern bike with spot on honda efi,6 speed heaps of low and mid range punch and all the lights are led so can see where you going at night.

Service intervals are quite regular but only takes 15mins and its only 1 litre of oil(ive got 450x with same motor)

Being a honda its gona be reliable easy get parts and resale will be good.

This will be my next bike

Just Imagine if they made the 450 in a rally version like the 250, would be epic as hell.

I got all excited at Honda in Hamilton (before I got current bike) because they had a 250 rally dressed like a 450.. I was like.. Yusssssssssss then sad face

  6. Don't have a motard or drz but my 530 is similar.

Just got to remember that any bike is a compromise in one way or another. You just have to understand what you are willing to live with.

iv found the 530s stability fine on the open road except for one day with extreme wind- but any bike would have been pretty miserable.

You'll find open road riding is a bit average. It's FINE, but you will get more vibration, more noise, more buffeting and more of a sore ass than a more commuter oriented design.

Greg widened the foam on my seat which made a massive difference (damn he's good) and losing a few teeth on the rear would also make it a bit nicer but haven't got there yet.

ps, do not under estimate the importance of a comfortable seat, and don't fall into the trap of thinking it feels soft enough and you'll be fine. It's the narrow width that does it.

    Its all garbage!

Rust primers suck at rust converting and suck at being a primer. Worst of both worlds.

Same for weld through primer, chuck it in the bin. 2 part epoxy holds heat better and burns off less if you let it cure 24/48h.

Just rename the thread to buy some 2 part epoxy primer and apply to clean abraded/acid washed metal thx.

Does 2k fuck up your weld though? Coz I use crc zinc spray and it's like welding clean steel

  8. Also jumping on the bandwagon here- rust converters are shit. I've had panel beaters tell me this, and I have seen it myself. Its not uncommon for light rust to form UNDER the shitty rust converter finish.. its just plain terrible stuff.

Probably fine to paint it over 99% mechanically de-rusted surfaces to treat any shallow pitting, then sand it all off again before epoxy, but otherwise no.

The problem is trying to explain to people that its simply not a magical wonder fix and the labels on the bottle are a lie.

    Edit.

Everyone can do the test themselves. Take a piece of steel with fairly light surface rust. Paint it with rust converter. Let cure. Scratch off the converter with a knife or flat head screw driver. Under the purply black coating is plain old normal ginger rust every time. it does not penetrate like people will have you believe.

  9. I can't quite remember but may have taken that rubber thing out when doing filter. I def remember it.

Punched holes in the muffler yesterday- was hopeful that I could drill out the rivets and slide it apart LOL but nah its just a pointless trim piece on the end for no reason. Definitely sounds better which is important because the rest of the package is so lackluster.

Best part is now knowing that UP is choke ON and down is off.
