  1. Maybe i should forget about the engine and just slam it out and put wheels on it. Tow it behind my chaser looking like a boss
  2. I could look into getting the head crack tested. But the bores on the cylinders require a hone and engine will need new rings. Number 5 and 6 are very clean, also rust track from the water gallery to the cylinder so i see where the HG was blown. Head looks in pretty good nick, be it the oil smells burnt as hell (and i did regular oil changes in it) 2JZ time? Maybe carb jz motor? Get a holley 570 and make a crazy side feed manifold?
  3. After having a good sift through oldschools archives i found Spencers thread on his bagged crown wagon: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/23637-ruff-kunts-ms63-crown-wagon/ I hope his ears are burning as he may be able to tell us if you can body drop these or if the chassis hits the body in places stopping it from happening.
  4. Sorry for the upside down picture. But these rubber bushes could be deleted. They are only there for lush comfort class. They are about 20mm thick, so would drop the body by that amount. The Steering column would need a small modification and im sure there are a dozen other little things that would need a tickle to get rid of them but thats one way to gain a little bit more low. This is a shocking photo of the suspension setup. As you see the spring comes right down to the lower arm.
  5. Crowns dont have coil over suspension? Ill have a look, see if they have come up with some crazy idea. Edit: 326Power only have crown suspension for a JZS15* series which is coilover, the S140 series and below have prehistoric suspension that has to be seen to be believed, it is Dual Wishbone suspension, where the front lower control arm is the actual lower mount for the spring and the upper mount is the actual chassis. So the only way to get more low is to chop chop the springs, until the upper control arm hits the chassis. Which sadly isnt really that low (my car would be about 30mm off it now without needing to mod the swaybar) I really want to do a body drop on one of these, No Chassis binding issues with the suspension and epic slam. The main issue with them is the chassis sits below the body so it drags rails before it even looks remotely low.
  6. "Any tips on lowering (a lot..) them? Mines nearly touching the front bump stops as is, and there doesn't look like there is a hell of a lot of spring travel to play with In the front (mines slightly lowered already) Do you know any other model/makes of coils that will work? (I see they're pretty thick and heavy duty, like falcon or commonwhore or something?) want to have it on the floor..." Front bump stops can pretty much be cut in half giving you another inch and a half of low. Springs in mine are kings, they could do with a trim tho. They have a lot more shock travel then ud expect because it all tucks up under the chassis. You bought a sweet whip man. The 1ggze's go amazingly hard. The one i V8'ed had a 1GGZE with a BHG in it and that went so hard it was rediculious. To be honest, the 1jz in this crown goes hard too but its apparently only running on 5 cylinders so it must be something in the Crown blood that does it.
  7. Which car the crown or the Chaser, both could use more low. Crown could use more go go haha.
  8. Anyone care for a swim? Reason why it was full of water.
  9. Had this custom machined to replace the original oil filter housing. It is very niceeee Engines back in and wired up. Drive trains in and assembled. Was waiting on this part so we can start oil system plumbing.
  10. Yea, will rip it apart tomorrow and have a look see. The crazy thing is it still drives amazingly. I took it for a burn before i raided parts off it to fix the chaser and i just cant see how it runs so good.
  11. Osssh. I compression tested the crown: 150-150-150-50-30-150 Mmmm. Fixed the chaser now so i now have 1 functioning jz.
  12. I highly approve of all of this. While my chaser has been dead from waterlog, i have been driving my old mans MR2 Turbo. Soooo sweet. I have got it to powerslide easily through intersections to a point, anymore then 10 degrees and its lilfe/death lock to lock switching action. They are fast cars tho, handle great (although getting used to off throttle loss of traction is very new to me) and leave most things behind in factory form. I may have to buy one.....
  13. I wish man, I know its a 4age, but you see the giant aluminium screws in the head in the middle of the valley. On the 1jz these are steel, and mine are fucked. Turns out the Crown has a blown head gasket, so epic radiator conversion was a failure. Awesome man, the 1ggze's go hard, but parts for them are a nightmare. I bought the last waterpump and headgasket for one in the country 2 years ago through BNT, who knows where you can get one from now? Did you buy it from Palmy? How much did u end up paying for it if you dont mind me asking? I saw him advertising it for $11k at one stage.
  14. So now my Chaser has shat out. Turns out in heavy rain the spark plug valley fills with rain water and causes it to missfire. Its been going on so long my spark plugs are stuffed, leads are stuffed, the big monster allen head grub screws that go into the head are stuffed. When i went to check the plugs there was 3 inchs of water right up to the rocker covers. Just blew my mind. So it has prompted me to fix the car out of the pair that is the cheapest to get back on the road. So the crown is in bits and i am doing a JZX90 radiator conversion (suprise suprise) to get it back on the road for the least amount of cash as possible. Also future proofs it incase i have radiator issues later on. Makes me sad tho i have to take to it with an angle grinder and welder to swap over the mount positions but it needs to be done. Will get some pics of it torn all through my garage tomorrow.
  15. Sadly they wont be that cheap, but i will be a distributor here in NZ so i will hold replacement parts/stock/warrantee/servicing so no freight costs/import fees to consider when looking at pricing as it will all be incorporated. More will be reveled soon Using a 3d printer for casting seems like a viable, affordable option. PLA as a material is a accurate, stable material thats made from corn that has a very low melting point so would be perfect for lost wax casting. It will pretty much vapourise when you pour and leave no contaminates behind (compared to other plastics that have components with higher melting points). Look into Google Sketchup, it is free and a very capable software suite that has free plug-ins for expanding what you draw to accommodate the shrinkage of casting. Another thing you guys should look into is 3d scanners. You can use an Xbox kinect as a 3d scanner. Unfortunately its resolution isnt good enough to do anything smaller then a chair at the moment, but the Kinect 2 is looking very promising. Sorry to hijack your thread. Where did you get your Green sand from? Homebrew? Aluminium just scrap metal?
  16. This is very very cool! If you guys are interested in making casting moulds from PLA and burning them out (similar to lost wax) I will be importing 3d Printers very very soon. I have just signed the agreement and am negotiating prices. I will advertise here if i am allowed (will talk to mods). Keep it up tho, Casting is very cool, sadly aluminium is a lot more toxic then people realise and its good to see you wearing a mask.

Its funny you should say this. I have enough bits of crap in my garage to do this on the cheap. Been talking about it with Kris. Might be a plan. Proberly end up taking eons though as no job, no money, uni crap.

Weather was nice this weekend, so i went for a drive.
  23. Engine out, all gaskets and seals replaced, MRP concentric, flywheel and xtreme clutch kit fitter. ECU and ignitor all wired up. New TRD engine mounts and gearbox mount, just need some new bellhousing bolts and will sling it all back in ready to fire her up. Also made this for the 86 so i can get the gearbox all back on by myself without having to get dodgy about it.
  24. I also played the video at full volume, never heard an M sound so good. You didnt play with your switches for the video Bitches love switches
