  1. My wife has a wingroad too. It's the 1800cc version and goes suprisingly well. Enough room in the back for 2 carseats, with boot space for pram, kids bike etc.

CVT is poos but you do get used to it. Steering is shite but once you get over that they handle suprisingly well. Paid 10k for it 3 years ago with 60k. Now on about 120 with nothing going wrong except the heater fan resistor.

Missus now wants a bigger suv thing with more room across the back seat. Cant say i'll be sad to see it go, but she liked it, and it has been a good appliance.

Edit: Fuckin thing has the most sensitive throttle. I'm forever getting in trouble for lighting up the front wheels from stop signs etc.

  2. IIRC, the GTX spec BPT will work but yeah theres a couple of hiccups - GTX uses a dizzy which you have to convert to a CAS due to firewall clearance, you need custom intake and exhaust manifolds and various other little bits and pieces need to be swapped over like dipstick tubes, sump etc. Probably easier just to turbo a standard BP. Especially if you were already going down a standalone ecu route.

Edit: If you were intent on using a familia motor the BPD out of the GT-R and GT-Ae would be a good choice.

  3. grrrr i note some of my pics are gone. will fix that up at some point.

Anyway. as previously mentioned, i have this rolling now. The motor is in the frame, the front and rear ends are together and i've started running the loom. I have a fair amount of re-work to do now though:

I scratched the shit out of the swingarm putting it in, i had a brake fluid leak over the top yolk which has destroyed the paint (not surprised) and my forks are leaking.

Anyway, to motivate myself i'm carrying on with runnig the loom and plugging everything in. Next up is to torque down all the engine mounts and then plumb it. shouldn't take long. I have a plan for the top yolk and forks, and hope to sort the swingarm in situ.

pic of it with bodywork mocked up to keep me motivated

No pics but: Motors in and its rolling. Have an agreement with the missus that i spend 3 nights a week in the shed so i can make some progress. Pretty keen to get this running in the next few weeks.

  5. Havent been to a Nats yet, was going to come this year, but health/life got in the way and before i knew it the deadline came and went, then nats came and went.

Fully intending on coming next year regardless of vehicle status (that's another thing that's stopped me), but hopefully rolling something tired and unreliable.

however - as someone that's never been, the thing that really appeals to me about nats (and OS events in general) is that you all seem like GC's that are just into a drama free weekend centered around cool cars, beers, sharns and shenanigans. I really like the idea that it takes over a whole campground or whatever and keeps everyone in one place - i don't know that it would appeal to me as much if it didn't.

  6. depend how big a surface you want to treat i guess, But i've used lemon juice on a pair of pliers that were rusted solid, and it freed them up nicely/stripped all visible rust off. Left them soaking for a week or so.

If you have access to a good lemon tree, and the hinges are off the car, then that might be a go

  7. Rocked a Gen 1 2.2 odyssey as a driver for a few weeks when i was selling cars, It was low on tri spokes , with nudge bars, yellow spotties, tube style running board things, it was gross as fuck but a big part of me loved driving it hah. From memory it went well, and made honda dort noises thanks to poddy setup. Was definately cheaper to run than the 3.5l range rover, Mivec FTO(though that may have been because leadfoot) and yuck twin turbo VR4 that i was driving around the same time.

Bit more $ and in Aucks, but an '01 and yearly wofs. One of these might be the go?:

I would say, buy someone elses mostly done project. 99.99999% of the reason why you think you want to do it all yourself will have disappeared when the car is in a million pieces with $20k thrown at it and its been like that for 2 years and still another 2 years from completion.

So true. Told myself i could do my bike for under a grand in 3 months. 1 year later i've thrown 2.5k at it and i haven't even got the running gear out of the old frame.

  9. Bit spendy though yeah? Also Busa boxes have a tendancy to break, and are geared quite high. All that you really need to do is fab up a longer input shaft (assuming you had the means to do so) and bellhousing, use an MX5 box and adapt an Mx5 rear end (knowing nothing about how easy an IRS setup in a Viva would be). keeping optimum ratios for street use. Would be a blast to drive.
