Grandads '63 MK1 Cortina, would always wash it for him in my early teens, on the back lawn (1/4 acre) so i could do skids.
Inherited it in '09 and still have it. Hopefully get it to Ch Ch soon and get it going again.

Im no expert but might be a good time to remove some stuff like the intercooler to give it a good cleanout too.
And as above look into getting a couple of new hoses.
I had a clip come undone on the air cleaner box (TD27T D21) and that sounded like shit was gonna hit the fan. Its always good to find the source of scary noises and find they are not terminal.

The one time i mistakenly let someone fill er up, the bitch snapped the key off in the fuel flap. Luckily I thought i had the keyring with 4 other datsun keys but no.
Proceeded to yell at attendant and workers while paying for gas all while wondering how to start the thing up.
Started the old 1200 up with only the stub of the key left - Datsun for the win.

I NEED HELP
The engine is a Yamaha DS6 from the 70's and when it was running sounded like this thing - bloody awesome
Heres what kinda bike the engine is off
Anyway it blew up from running too lean. it melted a piston among other things and the spares we have are all haddit.
We ran some carbs we found as it used to run on methanol and they were so huge the engine would flood. It apartently had around 40Hp. It was a prick to start and was generally
missing bits and pieces aswell (no clutch or kickstart)
We are thinking for ease of running it etc to find a complete engine with the clutch and kick start like an RD250 as they look similar to keep with the theme of the Kart. Then we can kick start it, and
use the clutch to move off.
Any help locating an engine like this, Yamaha Parallel Twin 250cc (or 350 but would have to keep quiet as 250cc is max allowed) 2 stroke, would be much appreciated as there is a big meeting in Hawkes Bay in January and we would like to have it running then.

Highly recommend Gordon Milne Paint & Panel Ltd - they fixed my 120Y under Swann Insurance and matched a custom colour - they also painted "SKDMRX" - Johns V8 Cedric from memory.
