  1. Got tires today. Went with 175/60R14's. Here's a couple of crap quality photos of it at dusk light Uploaded with ImageShack.com Uploaded with ImageShack.com Here's a quick mock up of it lowered. I'm still tossing up how I lower it, the rear only needs two inches to get it to a good height so I'll just go with blocks for now. The front realistically needs 3". The lowest listed spring made is only 1.5" drop... I've heard that Mag n Turbo Manakau often take the springs out then measure them up and find something suitable that isn't listed but is the right size, really not sure whether I'd find something suitable with a 3" drop though. If I did get 3", what mods would I need to keep it legal? Uploaded with ImageShack.com Matt.
  2. Have given the wheels a hand polish and they've come up pretty damn good - I'm a perfectionist so I'm battling to keep myself from polishing some more. Here's a couple of photos of the fitment - I do have a better one taken from the back looking right along the side of the car but I don't have time to load it onto my computer at work. I somehow missed it out. Hoping to get some prices on tyres through a mate in the next couple of days. Then lowering can happen!
  3. Wheels just arrived. Can't wait to get home and unpack them. No GST payable too!
  4. Should probably mention that the wheels are 14 x 6.5 + 4 / 14 x 7 -2 so should be a pretty good fit. Can anyone suggest good tyre sizes? Wouldn't mind a bit of stretch but looking for a cheap option. Matt.
  5. Just bought some new wheels. They're on their way from Japan. Looking forward to fitting them. Still need to sort out lowering. Things take so much longer now that I am working full time during the week!
  6. Yeah I bought it from Waiuku. Thanks dwlee! Will have to go down to mitsubishi on the weekend
  7. Does anyone know where I could get new window seals, as in the felt that is inside the doors that stops the windows from being scratched as they are wound down?
  8. Yeah it was produced at Todd Motors, I've got all the original paperwork for it. I will have to have another look but I believe the original owner was the daughter of the owner of Todd motors.
  9. Jesus... I don't know what's going on. We will try one more time...:
  10. Sorry, I didn't mean to double up on images, one was meant to be this: I also apologise for the quality of the photos, they're off my phone. Cheers
  11. Here is the car when I first got it. It's a 1973 Mitsubishi Galant 16L with a 1600cc 4g32 and 4 speed. Since then I have removed the tow bar, repainted the front grill, taken off the sheepskin seat covers and cleaned up the front seats with a toothbrush. I have spent the majority of a couple of days polishing the paint and chrome to get it looking pretty damn good. The top surfaces need an aggressive cutter to get the years of watermarks out of the one stage paint. I have tried a few less abrasive products but don't have enough experience with one stage paint to get it right so am about to organise a professional to have a look at it. I have bought some Advanti Takashi's as a temporary wheel until I find something rare with a good fitment. The Takashi's are 15x7 with a 15p offset and I couldn't have got anything any wider on the front or with a lower offset. Now that the wheels are fitted, the car looks like a monstertruck so I am looking to lower it asap. The front suspension is the big issue, the only springs that Autolign Suspension can provide only give me 1.5" drop. I need to find another reasonably cheap way of getting the drop I am after. Are there struts from another car that will allow me to get decent drop? Here's a mock up of when I was first considering wheel combinations.
  12. Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/38004-mattescorts-1973-galant-16l-project-discussion/ This is my most recent project. I have purchased some Advanti Takashi wheels as a temporary thing until I find something old school Jap that I really want. The owner before me purchased the car in the 70's and it had just the one owner before her. It's in pretty good nic, it does need a couple of paintless dents fixed and a bubble of rust in the drivers side guard done. Also the top surfaces need a good cut and polish. At the moment my biggest priority is lowering which I am having a bit of trouble with gaining information about. The most drop that is on offer from Autoline Suspension is 1.5" in the front with King Springs but I really want 3-4". Any help would be much appreciated. Matt.
