  1. hey guys thanks for the tips, i got one side off, other should be a breze cause i know exactly what to do now. i just dont have a socket big enuf for big nut on top haha got a mate bringing me some tomoro tho. so hopefully will have both springs out within a day or to, cause im actually ment to be studying haha. once i have measured them up, i myt see if i can find some shorter springs off something that will fit in. if not, probably just get them compressed.
  2. oh sweet ill check it out when i get a chance. shouldnt be to tricky so ill probably do it anyway. there still seemed to be a fair bit of force pushing the strut up so yeh that could be why

  4. i followed the above instructions, but where it says undo lower arm from base of stru, i undid the two bolts that attacht the ball joint bit to the bottom of the strut, and then should the lower arm fall away? or may it need some persuasion? cheers

  6. could someone give me a quick run down on the best way to remove the shocks? i tryed to follow the manual but it was hell confusing. do i just jack up the car with the jack under the swing arm thing, take the wheel off, chuck on the spring compressers, wind them up a bit, take off the weight by jacking up the actual car, undo the 3 bolts on top of the fender in the engine bay, and then remove any obvoius things that will cause havoc ie calipers etc, and the the whole thing should drop out right? and then do i just undo the big nut on the top of the shock, and will this allow me to take the spring off? cheers
  7. hey all. the hunters currently in crammed up in my garage while i do a bit of panel work on it before i paint it, and while its not being driven, i thort i may as well take the chance to lower it. im going t get 2inch blocks for the rear, which will actually be a very decent drop as rear tires all ready sit level with the guards, and im going to get the fronts compressed. the blocks are obviously simple, but im a bit stumped with compressing the fronts. at the mo the front has smaller tyres on than the rear, so there is a larger gap between the top of the tire and the body and it looks a bit silly lol as i think the rear has sagged a bit too. i would like to go as low as possible without running into issues of rubbing,scraping, not getting in the driveway etc etc. wats the best way to ensure that i dont run into these problems after ive fitted the compressed springs? should i just see how much i can get them compressed while still being captive and bobs your uncle, or is it a wee more complicated than this? sorry about the wall of text but yeh just wanted to get a few things clear in my head. any tips/help would be appreciated. oh and ive already had the cutties/compressed debate so please no CUTTIES MANG!! cheers
  8. yeh i got one of the spliters from super cheap but like the dude above me i had no space. was the misses car so just got her to take it in and get it dun lol wasnt my muny so ftw
  9. lol yeh i know what they do. well i stripped the carb and gave everything a good going over, then put it back together, and it started mint, but then when you pushed the accelerator......nothing....not a thing....lol. SO, i stripped it again, put it back together again....and....it started mint, and went mint lol. driven it to ashburton and it didnt have any problems so hopefully that fixed it. on a side note, lol the clutch stopped working lol but thats all fixed now. turns out there was no fluid in the fluid thinging my bad lol. im working now for a week, and my pays guna hopefully get it lowered, and paint the wheels

  13. hey all. my cars been running all good but recently it random has like no power at all. it happens when like sitting at the lights, and then i got to accelerate, and ill out my foot flat on the floor, but the engine will like only rev very very slowly and the revs dont grow. but then if a like pump it i few times in suddenly goes vrroooom!!! and pops and burbles a bit lol. it does in in gear and out of gear. i was thinking it could be the fuel filter? my mates diesel truck did it once and it was the fuel filter. so yeh, can anyone put more wisdom to my geuss? thanks

  15. hey all. i need to replace the outer ball joint of my gfs 76 civic lol, and ive got the new one, its like the arm and ball joint together. i can see how it comes out, and i took out all the needed bolts and nuts etc, but the rod on top of the ball joint wont drop out....if anyone foloows me? its the type with the threaded rod on top of the ball joiunt with a nut, and i assumed once i took the nut off it should drop out. i used a fair bit of force etc but it wont move. is there a certain way to do it or something? c cheers
  16. put ne engine mounts in today, the old ones just fell apart once i unbolted them....lol. nearly finshed tidying up the front guards, just a bit more sanding and a bit of bog to go. got some rims lined up, hopefully get them next week. not quite what i was after but they still mint.
  17. well i finally got pics!!! prety shitty bit yeh ah well. she still needs a bit more tidying up but im still stoked going to tudy up the front right guard this arvo, and see what i can do with the dents on the left hand doors

  20. took the tyres in today to get the bald ones swapped to the spares i got with the car. the good ones are firestone c........ (cant memba the name) and they guy was like shit havnt seen a pair of these in like 30 years!!! said the tyres i have were made in 1984 lol i think it made his day. he said they all good tho, so ill slap them back on the car tomoro and head to the wof place......d day haha, cant wait
  21. yeh its 4x108, and yeh have been looking at some rostyles for it, got a cheap set lined up hopefully....just gona wait to see if its gets a warrent tomoro before i spnd any more money on it.
  22. well got the brakes fixed!! and also the bonnet popper works, and the accelerater pedal is stuck to the floor which is a good thing lol. just getting some tyres swapped around tomoro as the rear ones are bald at the mo and hopefully guna take it in for a warrent on tuesday. took it for a road test today, drives real smooth, no obvious problems, apart from a bit of tyre rub on full lock ... not sure how to fix that. would be keen on a 5th gear to make crusing at 100k a bit more comfortable but meh cant complain. so yeh after it gets a warrent, fingers crossed, next step is prbly some 2inch blocks in the back, and if i find some coin, compress the fronts. also keeping my eyes out for some wheels mayb, im a poor student lol. my camera was flat so couldnt take fotos but ill get some someday
  23. it drives!!! with no brakes haha, i was working on it by myself so couldnt bleed the brakes, but the hand brakes sufficed for a few trips round the paddock. so stoked to be making progress. hopefully ill get a chance today to bleed them and fingers cossed thats all that needs doin. finished priming nearly all the car, looks a gazillion times better, myt try get some pics today. cleaned up the inside, just got a tine bit of rust in the drivers fotwell, nothing a big of bog or sumthing cant cover, its only like a old 20c piece so no worries. so yeh hopefully will get a chance to try get a warrent this week and c if anything else needs some work.

  25. hey all. im looking at getting the front springs compressed to level things out a bit when i but 2inch blocks in the back. cann anyone reccomend a place in chch that does it at a good price? also, is there a way to check how much i can compress the springs while still keeping them captive? or is it one of those oh shit thats too much kinda things? cheers Andrew
