Could the strain gauge go in the engine mount? Would that lessen the wonky readings from bumps etc?

as far as i know theres only 2 different spline drive wheel nuts in 12mm or 1/2
i have 2 spline drive sockets in my toolbox and they fit everything thats not 14mm
also a 17mm single hex socket can undo them anyway if they arent uber tight
sometimes come across wierd stuff from japan like 7 sided nuts which need a special socket which are not very common

It's super annoying. This $4 piece of metal that I totally remember holding at one point has gone walkies, yet I made very sure that everything Alto has a defined place in the garage. I've exhausted all the normal places, the dumb places, the super dumb places, the "out there" places, and now it's in "a mouse made away with it" or "it got knocked off the bench and lodged in someone's shoe grooves" levels of dumb places it could be.
Do you have someone you have annoyed in some way?
When I was a kid, my dad had done something that I didn't like. He was rebuilding his wheelbarrow so I grabbed the axle and biffed it in the bush behind the house
I never told him until I was in my 30s
He was equal parts = you little shit
= impressed that 4 year old me knew what part was critical and annoying to lose

I checked my hiace one here and apparantly it is...
But yeh cast/forged possibly. I spoke with the bald jesus @cletus himself about about narrowing them that way eons ago and he rekons it was a jailable offense at the time or something like that.
It's now a "grey area"
It comes up fairly regularly as a lot of the time it's already been done when I see it
Each time it comes up I send photos through to lvvta and they decide if it's OK or not
I'd avoid it if you can as it creates unknowns, but if you want to do it, email lvvta first and see what they want /how it should be welded

I can see many problems with it.
I'd be fucked off if someone wrote my car off because they cable tied a bit of wood to a brake pedal so they could drive a big car (looks like a falcon dash to me) instead of doing it at least partially properly or choosing a car that fits them properly/better

Looks ok to me?
As long as it doesn't touch the driveshaft, should be fine.
If you are worried about it you could make a hook or similar to keep it from getting closer

Is it just for local 50kph commuting? Are there many hills where you are?

I see there are 70cc kits for sale, what would be the deal with insurance in that case?
Would you be able to declare it and leave it at that? Of course one wouldn't bother telling nzta of the mod and no cop is ever gonna check (but insurance would still be needed).
I doubt any insurance Co is going to give the green light to anything that makes it not legal

Well i test rode a 4 stroke vespa 50cc, fuck me that was dog slow, I gave up when it started to lose the will to live when it encountered a hill. A shame really, as it looked great and even my 6'2" 100kg body was ok on it.
Need to try a 2 stroke next.
/shat my pants when the scooter came to a sudden stop when i tried to clutch in the non-existent clutch.
I think if you are used to a 350cc+ motorbike, a 50cc anything is going to be punishing

Been on waiheke for a few days, vehicles of interest/ things that are a bit odd on an island with 60k limit and a lot of rust potential include a 55 chev, 2 corvettes, a 88-98 c1500, f150, a morris minor ute, ke70 wagon, e type and xj6 jags, a small 30s pickup (Bradford possibly?) and a late 20s vintage car of some sort
and about 27,396 nissan leafs, goodness me there's a lot of them
Left to rot things are usually parked under trees with all of the leaves and cobwebs

1000% at least talk to a repair certifier first.
I had a customer once who had to spend 13k uncovering repairs , getting it inspected and repainting it back to how it was at the beginning - ie just finished panel and paint.

The scooter market has totally dropped out BTW
Last couple years a bike would be gone in a week, maybe 2
Now it's more like 6 weeks with only 1 person getting in touch, and then it's a good bike selling for shit bike prices
Makes more sense to get something electric and not pay rego, ride on footpaths, don't need a licence etc now days I'd say
Looks like there's still interest in "enthusiast" machines, as there probably always will be, but the days of the shit bike are gone sadly
Just like my great grandfather as a blacksmith when cars came in, my grandfather as a watch maker when the quartz movement came in, I too have been rolled over by the n3ver ending advance of time
I've had a pair of vespas on TM for weeks with very little interest, no dumb low offers even

Out of curiousity, what have they actually been if not 50cc?
I can't remember exactly what size but I've had a few different ones , some were 50, some where 70 or 80ish
You can buy big bore kits from aliexpress which say 100cc but it's not, from memory it was 85cc or thereabouts
I think what they do is say they are all 50 so they can be reg as mopeds, but the heavier bikes get bigger engines to haul the extra lard around

I don't think any of the qmb139 or whatever they are called 50cc Chinese 4 strokes I ever owned were actually 50cc either, all factory big block m8

in the 90s , modgies were just a cheap wheel that were what you bought because you couldn't afford anything good
But because they were popular and every second rotary had them, they have become a cult thing that looks right on a rotor
Much like cragars on camaros, 8" tridens on a hq, or formula blue on a VK

Probably should have them, because of bias ply Hoosiers on the back, but when those are worn out I might try some drag radials , so would need a radial on the front

Nope, there's no minimum thickness,
the design of the mount bracket is more important IMO than thickness.
4mm would be fine if the design is right.
Even 'reputable' manufacturers get the design bit wrong...
